⚡️On International Day for Universal Access to Information (September 28), we draw #UNESCO's attention to the restrictions against the Russian media abroad.

In France🇫🇷, the UNESCO Headquarters host-country, since 2022:

RT and Sputnik channels were blocked;
RTR, Rossia-24, International TV Center, Channel One, Rossia-1 and NTV channels were shut down;
TASS Telegram channel was blocked;
Russian journalists have been repeatedly denied accreditation for various events, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Paris.

👉 The list of restrictions against the Russian media is constantly expanding.

📢Universal access to information is one of UNESCO's priorities. We call on the Director General to speak out against restrictions imposed on the Russian media.
⚡️Kiev committed another crime against Russian journalists.

On September 30th, as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian drone near Chasovy Yar (DPR🇷🇺) «Izvestia» correspondent Denis Kulaga was injured.

📢 We expect an immediate reaction and condemnation of Kiev’s actions from #UNESCO Director-General A.Azoulay.
📆October 1st marks 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia🇷🇺 and China🇨🇳

📣Congratulations to our colleagues and friends from the Permanent Delegation of China to #UNESCO and best wishes to the people of China!
The exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of accession of Russia 🇷🇺 and Belarus 🇧🇾 to #UNESCO will be opened in the UNESCO headquarters October, 2nd at 6 p.m.

✍️On September, 4th and 13th the US authorities introduced sanctions against MIA “Rossiya Segodnya” (RIA Novosti and Sputnik), TV-Novosti (RT and Ruptly).

Representatives of Russian Media M.Simonyan, E.Brodskaya, A.Anisimov, A.Kiyashko, K.Kalashnikov, E.Afanasyeva, A.Garashenko, A.Ermoshkina and A.Nezhentsev were also added to the sanctions list.

📢We ask Director General, A.Azoulay to raise her voice in defense of freedom of expression and journalists rights as these actions run counter the freedom of speech that #UNESCO stands for.
The celebration of the 70th anniversary of accession of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to UNESCO took place at UNESCO headquarters on October, 2nd.

💬The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation 🇷🇺 H.E. R.Alyautdinov in the welcoming address noted Russia's contribution to international humanitarian cooperation; emphasized that UNESCO can overcome difficulties only through a depoliticized dialogue on programmatic issues, respect for the Organization's Charter and the Rules of Procedure.

📍Charge d'Affairs a.i. of the Republic of Belarus K.Grusheusky; Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria (former Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, former Chairperson of the Executive Board and the UNESCO World Heritage Committee) H.E. E.Mitrofanova; First Deputy Director of TASS informationagency, member of the Bureau of the International Programme for the Development of Communication M.Gusman addressed the public.

📆6 October, is the International Geodiversity Day, proclaimed at the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2021. Russia was one of the coauthors of the relevant #UNESCO draft decision.

☝️Geodiversity has an essential role for human well-being and for sustainable management of the whole planet, being an intrinsic part of humanity’s relationship with nature and of human history.

Our country continues to make an important contribution to the preservation of the Earth's unique geodiversity and geoheritage. The Russian Geopark “Yangan-Tau”, included in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, is a clear example of such efforts.

📣We congratulate all representatives of the professional community on this significant Day!
🎙️Statement of Permanent Delegate of Russia, Mr. Rinat Alyautdinov at the Plenary session of 220th session of the UNESCO Executive Board:

💬In recent years, UNESCO has been experiencing a crisis, perhaps the most acute in its entire history. The substitution of the principles of international law by the notorious "rules-based order", persistently promoted by the West, has a devastating effect on #UNESCO. Politicization of the Organization's agenda, juggling with the Rules of its procedure, and disregard for the spirit of consensus are becoming commonplace. However, the attempts to resolve political issues in the UNESCO format have no prospect. The desire to isolate individual countries is a path to nowhere, undermining the foundation of our Organization – its universal character. Such actions have already led to a slowdown in the implementation of the Global Priorities and Programme Activities.

🎙Deputy Permanent Delegate of Russia🇷🇺 to UNESCO Mr. Kirill Rynza in connection with discussion regarding Crimea at 220th session of #UNESCO Executive Board:

📍Western countries again demonstrated double standards, ignoring the goals, programme guidelines and UNESCO Constitution in order to promote selfish geopolitical interests.

📍The accusations against Russia are unfounded, the Secretariat obediently prepared again a ridiculous report on virtual monitoring based on information from Kiev.

📍The latter calls into question independence and impartiality of the international officials who drafted this report. It damages UNESCO's reputation.
