Thus, it sent a clear message, any strike on the suburbs would be met with a direct Iranian response. The aim of the firing was not necessarily to ignite a full-scale war, but to establish an equation. From Iran's point of view, the ability to respond directly, and the choice of the firing range, timing, and targets, were no less important than the amount of physical damage inflicted. Iran sought to end the round with the final word, and it largely succeeded in doing so.

From a cognitive and strategic perspective, this is a very problematic outcome for "Israel", as it allows Iran to portray itself as having responded, not having retreated, and having ended the round on its own terms. They had the final say, not us. And they stopped because they reached an understanding with Trump on a ceasefire, an understanding that was imposed on "Israel" against its will.

President Trump said on Monday that Iran and Israel must “stop shooting,” comments that came after Israel bombed Iran following Iranian strikes on northern Israel in response to Israel’s strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
“Israel and Iran must immediately stop ‘shooting.’ President DONALD J. TRUMP,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
Israel launched strikes in several Iranian cities after Trump said that he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to respond to the Iranian strikes on northern Israel.
“I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate. Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike, and Iran had its strike. We don’t need another one,” Trump told Axios reporter Barak Ravid a few hours before Israel bombed Iran.
The Wall Street Journal reported that when Trump spoke with Netanyahu on Sunday, and it became clear the Israeli leader wouldn’t call off his plans to strike Iran, Trump asked him to keep it limited. The two leaders spoke again on Monday, and Netanyahu later said publicly that he would not launch further attacks.

Gaza 'Ceasefire' Talks Resume In Cairo As Israel Continues To Bomb Strip, Suspend Entry Of Aid
Israel has killed nine Palestinians and wounded dozens more in the past 24 hours, despite the ceasefire reached in October
Talks to advance the Gaza ceasefire toward the second stage have begun in Cairo between mediators and Palestinian factions, AFP reported on 8 June, citing a Palestinian source familiar with the meeting.
The talks began on Sunday before resuming on Monday, amid Israel's ongoing violations of the ceasefire reached with Hamas in October.
Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye met with Hamas representatives and other Palestinian factions in a bid to move the ceasefire to its second stage.
Egypt's state-linked Al-Qahera News channel said Sunday's talks focused on “the proposed roadmap for completing the implementation of the agreement” and were “held in a positive atmosphere.”
Despite the ceasefire, Israel's military has continued launching near-daily attacks on civilians in Gaza, as well as expanding the territory under its direct occupation.

Iran Denies Attacking Saudi Arabia, Warns Of Israeli False-Flag
Iranian officials have cited a growing list of false-flag attacks across West Asia intended to implicate Tehran
