❗️Thirty US lawmakers demand transparency on Israel’s nuclear arsenal

In a letter sent on 4 May to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, 30 Democratic members of Congress called on the Trump administration to end its longstanding policy of ambiguity regarding Israel’s nuclear weapons, arguing that Congress has a constitutional duty to understand the nuclear balance in West Asia amid the US-Israeli war on Iran. They requested detailed information on Israel’s estimated stockpile, its nuclear doctrine, possible red lines for use, and whether Washington has received assurances that such weapons will not be deployed.

The lawmakers pointed to the Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona as the core of Israel’s nuclear program and cited public estimates that Israel possesses around 90 nuclear warheads, a large plutonium stockpile, submarine-based launch capabilities, and long-range ballistic missiles. They argued that shielding one state’s nuclear arsenal while demanding that Iran forgo such capabilities undermines any coherent non-proliferation policy across the region.

❗️Oil prices rose by 4 percent after Trump said he found Iran’s proposal 'unacceptable'

Brent crude climbed $4.16 this morning to $105.45 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose to $99.80 per barrel.

Prices had fallen by 6 percent last week amid expectations that the 10-week war would come to an end and that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen.

❗️Iran says its counterproposal was reasonable as Washington maintains 'excessive demands'

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran’s counterproposal to the United States was based on legitimate demands, asking whether ending what he described as acts of piracy against Iranian vessels, unfreezing Iranian assets held for years in foreign banks under US pressure, guaranteeing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and securing peace and stability across the region, including Lebanon, could seriously be considered unreasonable.

Baghaei said the US side continues to insist on positions largely shaped by the Zionist regime, maintaining what he described as a unilateral approach and a set of demands that remain fundamentally irrational.

❗️‘A New Nakba in Jerusalem’: Israel is accelerating the destruction of Silwan to encircle Al-Aqsa with settlements and biblical parks

A detailed report by Middle East Eye says Israel has sharply intensified home demolitions in the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem, particularly in Al-Bustan, just south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Since October 2023, at least 54 homes have been demolished there alone, with most of the remaining houses now under threat. Residents warn that nearly 20,000 Palestinian homes across Jerusalem are currently under demolition orders.

The demolitions are designed to clear Palestinians from strategic neighborhoods surrounding Al-Aqsa and replace them with settler compounds and biblical-themed tourist parks such as the “King’s Garden” and the “City of David.” Al-Bustan, home to around 1,500 Palestinians, is seen as crucial to linking settler enclaves in Silwan and integrating them into what Israeli authorities seek to normalize as part of West Jerusalem.

According to researchers and residents cited by Middle East Eye, the process is not about urban planning but about reshaping Jerusalem’s demography and erasing Palestinian presence.

Settler organizations such as Elad and Ateret Cohanim, described as functioning with extensive state backing, are leading efforts to remove Palestinian families through court actions, demolitions, and archaeological projects rooted in nationalist-religious narratives.

Palestinians say the world’s focus on Gaza has given Israel a free hand to accelerate what residents call a “new Nakba” in Jerusalem. “If there is no real action, there will be a new Nakba for the people of Jerusalem,” longtime Silwan activist Fakhri Abu Diab warned, saying the destruction of Silwan would sever Palestinian communities from Al-Aqsa and permanently transform the city around Islam’s third holiest site.

🇮🇷 NEW: Iran is considering imposing fees on subsea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz

IRGC-affiliated Tasnim and Fars outlets reported today that any cable laid on the seabed without authorization constitutes ‘occupation of Iranian soil underwater’ and must be subject to licensing and fees.

The monetization blueprint is modeled loosely on Egypt, which earns between 250 million USD and 400 million USD annually from cables transiting the Suez corridor.

Under the proposed framework, foreign operators would pay per-meter infrastructure fees and licensing royalties to route cables through Iranian territorial waters.

The subsea cables in question—including the FALCON, GBI and Gulf-TGN networks—enable the bulk of Internet traffic, financial transactions and cloud data flowing between Europe and Asia via the Middle East.

Trump Rejects ‘Unacceptable’ Iranian Response After Call With Netanyahu

The Islamic Republic has demanded the removal of US sanctions, a full ceasefire in Lebanon, freedom to export oil, and control over the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s response to the new ceasefire proposal from Washington late on 10 May, calling it “unacceptable” right after a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I have just read the response from Iran's so called 'Representatives.' I don't like it – TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!" the president wrote on Truth Social.

Trump also told Axios that he does not “like their letter.” He went on to call the Iranian response “inappropriate.”

"They have been tapping along many nations for 47 years,"
Trump added.

The president also said he “discussed the Iranian response” with Netanyahu. "It was a very nice call. We have a good relationship," Trump said, adding that the Iran talks are “my situation not everybody else’s.”

"We just saw the reaction of the so-called president of the US to Iran's response. It has no importance; No one in Iran writes proposals to please Trump. The negotiating team should draft proposals only for the rights of the Iranian people, and when Trump is dissatisfied with them, naturally that is better,"
an informed source told Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said Iran’s response was “reasonable,” while blaming Tel Aviv for Washington’s position.

🇺🇸/🇮🇷 President Trump on Truth Social:

‘When the Fake News says that the Iranian enemy is doing well, Militarily, against us, it’s virtual TREASON in that it is such a false, and even preposterous, statement. They are aiding and abetting the enemy! All it does is give Iran false hope when none should exist. These are American cowards that are rooting against our Country.

Iran had 159 ships in their Navy — Every single ship is now resting at the bottom of the sea. They have no Navy, their Air Force is gone, all Technology is gone, their “leaders” are no longer with us, and the Country is an Economic Disaster. Only Losers, Ingrates, and Fools are able to make a case against America! President DONALD J. TRUMP’
