❗️US reportedly pressuring 'neutral' Oman to sever relations with Iran
The US has grown increasingly dissatisfied with Oman’s neutral position in the US-Israeli war on Iran and is now urging Muscat to align itself with one side, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to US and Arab officials cited by the WSJ, the Trump administration is pressuring Oman to distance itself from Tehran and sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic.
Tensions escalated after a new intelligence assessment suggested that Iran had explored a joint arrangement with Oman to impose fees on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, US President Donald Trump threatened sanctions and military action against Oman, warning the Gulf nation not to enter into any agreement with Iran concerning control of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow them up. They understand that. They’ll be fine," Trump said.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also cautioned that Oman could face sanctions if it moved forward with plans to charge ships transiting the strait.
Speaking to reporters the following day, Bessent said he had spoken with Oman’s ambassador to Washington, Talal Alrahbi, who assured him that the Sultanate had “no plans for tolling."
Responding to reports that the US was pressuring Oman to cut ties with Iran, Omani Information Minister Abdulla al-Harrasi said, “Oman stands ready to work with the United States and all responsible partners to promote stability, deter disruption, and safeguard our shared strategic interests."

❗️Statement issued by the Palestinian Resistance Factions:
"We commend the principled stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in freezing ceasefire negotiations with the Zionist-American enemy and reaffirming its condition that the Zionist-American war and aggression must cease on all fronts and arenas, including Lebanon and Gaza.
This position comes as a natural extension and continuation of Iran’s longstanding support for our Palestinian people, their resistance, and all the peoples of the nation in confronting the Zionist-American aggression that targets the entire region.
We call on the free people of the nation to mobilize in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples as they confront the ongoing genocide and Zionist-American aggression, which targets both people and infrastructure in pursuit of Zionist Talmudic plans and the criminal Zionist project known as 'Greater Israel.'"

US Treasury Secretary Threatens Oman With Sanctions If It ‘Facilitates Tolls’ For The Strait Of Hormuz Scott Bessent's warning came after Trump threatened to 'blow up' Oman if it didn't 'behave' US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday threatened…
Why Oman Now Holds The Key To Hormuz
As the Strait of Hormuz moves back to the center of Gulf politics, Muscat’s careful diplomacy with Tehran is becoming a test of whether regional security will be managed by Gulf states or dictated from outside.
On 5 May 2026, Iran announced the establishment of the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), a body presented by Tehran as a mechanism for regulating transit through the Strait of Hormuz and collecting fees from commercial passage. If implemented, the move would turn a long-held Iranian threat into an administrative reality, giving Tehran new leverage over one of the world’s most sensitive trade arteries.
...Tehran has included Muscat in discussions over the future handling of the strait, partly because Oman has long been viewed as a dependable mediator, and partly because geography gives the sultanate an unavoidable role.
Muscat is not merely hosting talks or passing messages between rivals. It is being drawn into the question of who sets the rules for Hormuz, how far Iran can formalize its position there, and whether the GCC can live with an arrangement that gives member state Oman a central role in keeping the waterway open.
Washington has made clear that it will not accept any arrangement that weakens its ability to police the waterway or limit Iran’s regional leverage. Oman is now paying the price for its own usefulness. The “Switzerland of the Middle East” is no longer only the quiet host of talks between enemies; it is becoming a target of pressure because its diplomacy points toward a Gulf order less dependent on US coercion.
Muscat’s diplomatic capital
Oman’s value in the Persian Gulf rests on a combination of geography, restraint, and accumulated trust. For decades, Muscat has acted as a channel between states that cannot speak directly, from the US and Iran to rival Gulf capitals and the de facto government in Sanaa and Saudi Arabia. Its relations with Tehran predate the Islamic Republic, and have usually been guided less by ideology than by the hard facts of coastline, trade, and security.
Ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz must move through the Gulf of Oman... This makes Oman indispensable to every actor involved: Iran, the GCC states, Pakistan, India, China, the US, and the European energy markets that depend on Gulf supply.
Dr Mohammed bin Awad al-Mashikhi, an Omani academic, writer, and researcher specializing in public opinion...
“This is an old-new issue,” he says, pointing to the 1974 Oman–Iran agreement during the Shah’s era, when the two sides divided responsibilities in the Strait of Hormuz. He says Oman’s role later developed around supervising passage, protecting its territorial waters, preserving the marine environment, and guiding vessels through the strait.
In Iranian foreign policy, Oman’s utility is obvious. Unlike Riyadh during the peak years of Saudi–Iranian confrontation, Muscat never tried to turn its relationship with Tehran into a sectarian or ideological battlefield.
It maintained communication, protected its autonomy, and refused to become a platform for maximum-pressure campaigns. That posture has now given Oman room to speak to Iran at a moment when few others can.
Inside the GCC, Oman has rarely acted as a spoiler. But in Iran, Yemen, and Palestine, Muscat has often kept its distance...

US Pressures Oman To Sever Ties With Iran: Report — WSJ
Trump recently threatened to 'bomb' Oman if the country proceeded with Iran's proposal for joint management of the Strait of Hormuz
White House officials are pressuring Oman to distance itself from Tehran and sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic, allegedly growing “increasingly frustrated” with Muscat's neutral stance, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on 2 June, citing US and Arab officials.
This push follows US intelligence assessments suggesting that Oman may have considered a joint arrangement with Iran to impose fees on vessels navigating the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump has responded to these reports with threats of economic sanctions and military force.
During a cabinet meeting, the president warned that Muscat must align with international norms or face consequences, stating, “Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow them up.”

❗️Sky News divests from Arabic channel following scandal over UAE whitewashing of Sudan genocide
The UK’s Sky News Group has quietly exited its joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based International Media Investments (IMI), handing full strategic and operational control of Sky News Arabia to the Emirati firm. While the station will continue to use the Sky brand under a lucrative multi-year licensing agreement, the buyout ends a sixteen-year partnership established to compete with regional giants Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.
IMI is owned by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and the transfer effectively cements absolute Emirati state control over the network's editorial direction.
The abrupt restructuring follows intense scrutiny and growing panic among UK executives over the channel’s biased coverage of the Sudanese genocide. Sky News Arabia has faced severe condemnation for acting as a direct mouthpiece for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the UAE-backed paramilitary group accused by United Nations investigators of carrying out a campaign of genocide and starvation in Darfur.
Internal sources revealed to Middle East Eye that Sky executives became deeply concerned after the Arabic channel repeatedly aired reports whitewashing RSF atrocities and questioning the evidence of mass killings brought forward by survivors and international monitors.
The final straw for the British broadcaster came after Sky News Arabia sent a reporter married to a senior RSF official to the besieged city of El-Fasher, where she was filmed hugging an RSF commander who had previously incited fighters to rape Darfuri women.
The blatant propaganda prompted the Sudanese government to ban the station from operating in the country. While IMI claims the ownership transfer was purely commercial, the divestment allows the UK parent company to distance itself from Abu Dhabi’s direct complicity in the Sudan genocide while continuing to profit from brand licensing.

The French government has barred Israeli government officials and national delegations from attending the upcoming Eurosatory defense exhibition in Paris. Under the strict directives issued by French authorities, Israel is prohibited from establishing its traditional national pavilion at the premier European arms fair.
Furthermore, Paris has banned Israeli weapons manufacturers from showcasing any offensive combat hardware, restricting the remaining corporate attendees exclusively to the display of defensive anti-air systems during the event later this month.
The Israeli Defense Ministry lashed out at the restriction on Monday, labeling the move a "shameful decision" that unfairly penalizes its state-backed 'defense' sector.

Ghalibaf Says Iran Will Be In ‘Direct Confrontation’ With Israel If It Doesn’t Halt Attacks On Lebanon Trump has suggested some sort of ceasefire was reached but Israeli attacks continue in southern Lebanon Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf…
'Neck-deep In The Lebanese Mud': Israel In Meltdown After Netanyahu Cancels Beirut Strikes
Opposition leader Avigdor Lieberman slammed Trump’s unilateral ‘ceasefire’ and urged Tel Aviv not to stop until the ‘last building was flattened’ in the Beirut suburb
Israeli media outlets and officials have erupted in anger over US President Donald Trump’s unilateral ceasefire announcement between Hezbollah and Israel – with settlers from the north complaining that they remain “ducks in a shooting range.”
“From the chaos in the streets to the Lebanese mud, Israel appears to be a country where every actor dictates terms to it: the Haredim at home, Hezbollah from outside, and Trump above them all,” wrote Maariv newspaper’s Avi Ashkenazi on 2 June.
“In a proper, serious country, several things would have happened this morning … The prime minister and the government would have resigned and gone home [and] the Air Force would have continued a wave of strikes throughout Lebanon – a campaign that should have begun yesterday at 9:00 am and continued uninterrupted until Hezbollah raised a white flag,” he added.
He also slammed the ultra-Orthodox community (Haredim) and lamented that troops and reservists are bearing the burden of the war.
“But we do not live in a proper country. This is the State of Israel, where every troublemaker can do whatever he wants and impose new rules on the state. This happens both from within and from outside.”

California Assembly Passes Under-16 Social Media Ban Buried past the 76-to-0 vote is a clause letting the Attorney General widen who counts as a "covered platform' without the Legislature voting again. California’s Assembly voted 76 to 0 on May 28 to push…
Minnesota Law Requires Platforms To Monitor And Age-Estimate All Users
Minnesota just mandated that platforms spy on every user to figure out which ones are kids.
Governor Tim Walz signed House File 4138 on Tuesday, turning Minnesota into the latest state to demand that social media platforms profile every user who logs on.
The law, which takes effect in July 2027, forces platforms with at least 10,000 account holders or $1 billion in annual revenue to estimate the age of all Minnesota users, obtain parental consent before anyone under 16 can hold an account, and disable a list of features the legislature has labeled “addictive.” It passed the state House 132-2 and the Senate 66-0.
We obtained a copy of the bill for you here .
The bipartisan consensus is remarkable given what the bill actually requires. Buried beneath the child protection language is a surveillance apparatus that applies to every user, not just minors.
When you create an account on a covered platform, the law demands you declare your month and year of birth. That’s just the beginning. Once you’ve spent 25 hours on the platform within six months, the company has 14 days to estimate your age using “reasonable efforts, taking into consideration available technology and the data in the possession of the covered social media platform.”
If the platform can’t reach 80% confidence that you’re 16 or older, you get classified as a child and locked into restricted mode.
Hit 50 hours, and the confidence threshold rises to 90%. Still not verified? The age estimation repeats every six months for the first seven years your account exists, or more often if the platform runs any demographic analytics on your profile.
That means platforms are legally required to continuously analyze how you behave, what content you engage with, and who you communicate with for the better part of a decade. The law creates an obligation to surveil that didn’t exist before.

Turkiye, Azerbaijan Announce Electricity Corridor To Europe
The initiative advances Ankara’s goal of becoming a regional energy hub while strengthening European markets
Turkiye and Azerbaijan expanded their strategic energy partnership on 1 June, finalizing a 15-year natural gas supply contract and announcing a new initiative to establish a regional electricity export corridor to Europe.
The agreements, reached during Baku Energy Week, include a deal between Turkiye’s state energy company BOTAS and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR for the delivery of 33 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas.
The contract, which begins in 2029, is tied to new production investments at the Absheron Gas Field in the Caspian Sea, with the project also involving participation from French energy firm TotalEnergies and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
The Absheron field is estimated to hold approximately 350 bcm of gas and 45 million tons of condensate.
Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar described the project as the electricity-sector equivalent of TANAP, referring to the existing Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline.

5th Circuit Lets Texas Enforce App Store Age Checks
Texas drew its age line at the app store door and everyone has to show ID to get through it.
Texas can start forcing app stores to check the age of everyone who wants to download an app, after the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday cleared the state to enforce its App Store Accountability Act while the legal fight over it plays out.
We obtained a copy of the order for you here .
The three-judge panel gave no reasoning for the order, which lifts an injunction that US District Court Judge Robert Pitman issued last year in Austin after finding the restrictions likely violate the First Amendment.
SB 2420 does more than bar anyone under 18 from downloading apps or making in-app purchases without a parent’s permission. To draw that age line, marketplaces run by Google and Apple have to verify how old you are before you install anything, which pulls every user into the age-checking machinery rather than just minors.
Apple and Google have already built tools to pass each person’s age range to developers on request, opening a fresh stream of personal data out of the verification step.
The statute also pushes developers to sort their apps into four age bands, covering children under 13, young teens aged 13 to 15, older teens aged 16 to 17, and adults 18 and older, and to slap the same labels on individual in-app purchases.
That structure is what bothered Pitman and he wrote that the law “is akin to a law that would require every bookstore to verify the age of every customer at the door and, for minors, require parental consent before the child or teen could enter and again when they try to purchase a book.”
Texas passed the measure last year and set it to take effect in January, with Utah and Louisiana enacting similar statutes and federal lawmakers floating a national version.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association, a tech trade group, and the advocacy organization Students Engaged in Advancing Texas sued separately in October, arguing the statute violates the First Amendment.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation backed the law, telling the court it “reinforces longstanding requirements” around parental authorization for take-it-or-leave-it contracts with minors.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who took the injunction to the 5th Circuit frames it as a valid regulation of “commercial” transactions between minors and app stores. “When minors download apps they are accepting terms of service, including agreements about how their data is used,” Paxton argued. “The child may even be agreeing to have the information in their phone monetized by the tech companies or used to track location.”
The remedy Texas picked collects more data, not less. To shield children from apps that harvest and sell their information, the state requires age-verifying every user and tying minors’ accounts to a verified parent, then leaves the actual data harvesting untouched.

❗️Israel reopens Fiji embassy in Pacific influence push
Israel has officially reopened its embassy in the Fijian capital of Suva after a 30-year closure, marking a strategic push to deepen its influence in the Pacific. Israeli Minister Gideon Saar inaugurated the diplomatic mission today, reciprocating Fiji’s opening of an embassy in occupied Jerusalem last September. The new Suva mission is slated to serve as Israel's regional diplomatic hub, managing relations with nine other Pacific island nations.
During the inauguration, Israeli officials and Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka hailed the event as the start of a "golden era" in bilateral relations. The two governments signed multiple agreements targeting security cooperation and diplomatic training. Leaders from both sides praised their long history of collaboration dating back to 1970, specifically highlighting ongoing and future joint initiatives in agriculture, water management, and technology.
The diplomatic ceremony took place amid visible domestic friction, as a pro-Palestine protest was staged outside the venue to oppose the deepening ties with Israel, especially amid the genocide in Gaza, attacks on Lebanon, and threats against Iran.

Iraqi Resistance Faction Surrenders Arms To Baghdad Amid Pmu Disarmament Push
Several Shia resistance groups have criticized the move and dismissed allegations that it was supported by Iraq’s Supreme Religious Authority
The Iraqi Presidency on 2 June welcomed Asaib Ahl al-Haq's statement that it plans to incorporate its weapons into the Iraqi state and will disassociate from the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
Iraqi President Nizar Amidi said in a statement that he welcomes the "positions and steps taken by the Coordination Framework (CF) meeting to consolidate state authority and strengthen its sovereignty."
He also affirmed his support for Asaib Ahl al-Haq’s decision on "restricting weapons to the state," adding: "This step is consistent with the provisions of the constitution and the law and enhances security and stability in the country.”
Asaib Ahl al-Haq, a major Iraqi resistance group, declared earlier on Tuesday that it would place its weapons under the control of Baghdad, and that it had formed a committee to oversee the move.
“The committee will be responsible for completing all requirements and procedures necessary to implement this decision, including conducting a full inventory of personnel, weapons, vehicles, equipment, logistical assets, and all forms of affiliation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in a manner consistent with the requirements of the state and its security institutions,” the group said.

The real question is why should the sovereign country of Iraq ... have to beg the US permission to conduct business with its neighbor that is in its own interest?
Somewhere in the answer to that question, is the prime reason for why BRICS is rising.
...7/25/23 — Washington Names Itself ‘Custodian’ of Iraqi Debt Payments to Iran via Oman
And thus, its no wonder the global south is breaking away from US control, when it so often overrides their own interests[and sovereignty]

"[Israel] Should Counterattack Every Single Hour Of Every Single Day, And No Institution Should Be Spared."
World Jewish Congress President Ron Lauder has called for deploying Israel’s national intelligence agency, the Mossad, against Israel’s adversaries in the global public relations arena. Lauder made the remarks during his address at the Jerusalem Post conference in NYC this week, advocating for a clandestine approach to countering anti-Israel narratives.
To spearhead this media offensive, Lauder proposed recruiting a specialized brigade of 'young and attractive' Israelis to dominate global media platforms.
The billionaire stated that Israel needs these individuals to be on screens every single hour of every day, working overtime to make the case for the state. — 🇮🇱/🇱🇧/🇮🇷 NOTE: Hezbollah has said many times that it does not recognize Israeli-Lebanese ceasefire talks and won’t abide by them
It is very likely that Hezbollah will simply keep fighting until there is an unconditional Lebanese ceasefire as part of the Iran-U.S. negotiations.
