Iranian media reported that Tehran cut off talks due to Israel's escalations in Lebanon

President Trump insisted on Tuesday that the negotiations between the US and Iran have continued despite Iranian media reporting that Iranian officials have cut off the talks, which were being mediated by Pakistan.

“Fake News Reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the USA, stopped speaking a few days ago are false and erroneous,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“The conversations between us have been going on continuously, including four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today. Where they lead, one never knows, but as I told Iran, ‘It’s time, one way or another, for you to make a Deal. You’ve been doing this for 47 years, and it cannot be allowed to go on any longer!'” the president added.

According to the latest Iranian media reports , Iran is still reviewing the latest US proposal, but the messages over the potential deal had stopped a few days ago, and the last thing Tehran had relayed to the US was a “stern” warning over Israel’s war and escalations in Lebanon.

When the initial ceasefire was announced by Pakistan, a statement that was reviewed by the US, it included an end to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, which never happened despite a nominal ceasefire being declared last month. Iranian officials have made clear in recent days that they view the continued war as a violation of the ceasefire deal.

London Bans Israel Critics Hassan Piker, Cenk Uyghur From Entering UK

Piker took to social media to slam the UK for banning him and revoking his visa ‘at the behest of Israel’

Pro-Palestine streamer and commentator Hassan Piker was banned from visiting the UK by the British Home Office, ahead of his planned meeting with former Labour Party chief Jeremy Corbyn.

Piker was also due to meet with Green Party leader Zack Polanski.

“The UK has revoked my visa as well. All at the behest of Israel. The west is betraying ‘liberal values’ for a genocidal fascist foreign government. Soon we will all become Israel,” Piker said on X on 1 June.

❗️New investigation reveals Iranian attacks dealt far greater damage to at least 20 US military sites than previously acknowledged

An investigation by BBC Verify published on 1 June found that Iranian attacks have damaged at least 20 US military sites across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain, and Oman since the war began at the end of February.

Using satellite imagery and video analysis, BBC Verify said the scale of the damage appears significantly greater than publicly acknowledged, with some analysts estimating that as many as 28 bases may have been hit.

Among the most significant losses were three THAAD anti-ballistic missile batteries damaged in the UAE and Jordan.

The US operates only eight THAAD batteries worldwide, each costing about $1 billion and requiring crews of roughly 100 personnel.

Satellite imagery also showed heavy damage to refueling and surveillance aircraft at Prince Sultan Airbase in Saudi Arabia, including an E-3 Sentry aircraft, which US media estimate could cost up to $700 million to replace.

BBC Verify also cited damage at Ali Al Salem Airbase and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, where analysts identified destroyed fuel storage bunkers, aircraft hangars, troop accommodation, and satellite communications infrastructure.

The report said at least 42 aircraft have been destroyed or damaged since February, including F-15s, F-35s, 24 MQ-9 Reaper drones, and an A-10 attack aircraft.

The Pentagon previously estimated the total cost of the war at $29 billion, much of it linked to repairing or replacing equipment.

Military analysts told BBC Verify that Iran adapted its tactics during the war, shifting from large missile barrages to more precise attacks against high-value targets.

Experts argued that US forces were slow to adjust, leaving aircraft and critical infrastructure exposed. The report warned that extensive damage to bases and the heavy consumption of air-defense interceptors could leave US facilities across the Gulf increasingly vulnerable if all-out war resumes.

❗️US reportedly pressuring 'neutral' Oman to sever relations with Iran

The US has grown increasingly dissatisfied with Oman’s neutral position in the US-Israeli war on Iran and is now urging Muscat to align itself with one side, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to US and Arab officials cited by the WSJ, the Trump administration is pressuring Oman to distance itself from Tehran and sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic.

Tensions escalated after a new intelligence assessment suggested that Iran had explored a joint arrangement with Oman to impose fees on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, US President Donald Trump threatened sanctions and military action against Oman, warning the Gulf nation not to enter into any agreement with Iran concerning control of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow them up. They understand that. They’ll be fine," Trump said.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also cautioned that Oman could face sanctions if it moved forward with plans to charge ships transiting the strait.

Speaking to reporters the following day, Bessent said he had spoken with Oman’s ambassador to Washington, Talal Alrahbi, who assured him that the Sultanate had “no plans for tolling."

Responding to reports that the US was pressuring Oman to cut ties with Iran, Omani Information Minister Abdulla al-Harrasi said, “Oman stands ready to work with the United States and all responsible partners to promote stability, deter disruption, and safeguard our shared strategic interests."

Why Oman Now Holds The Key To Hormuz

As the Strait of Hormuz moves back to the center of Gulf politics, Muscat’s careful diplomacy with Tehran is becoming a test of whether regional security will be managed by Gulf states or dictated from outside.

On 5 May 2026, Iran announced the establishment of the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), a body presented by Tehran as a mechanism for regulating transit through the Strait of Hormuz and collecting fees from commercial passage. If implemented, the move would turn a long-held Iranian threat into an administrative reality, giving Tehran new leverage over one of the world’s most sensitive trade arteries.

...Tehran has included Muscat in discussions over the future handling of the strait, partly because Oman has long been viewed as a dependable mediator, and partly because geography gives the sultanate an unavoidable role.

Muscat is not merely hosting talks or passing messages between rivals. It is being drawn into the question of who sets the rules for Hormuz, how far Iran can formalize its position there, and whether the GCC can live with an arrangement that gives member state Oman a central role in keeping the waterway open.

Washington has made clear that it will not accept any arrangement that weakens its ability to police the waterway or limit Iran’s regional leverage. Oman is now paying the price for its own usefulness. The “Switzerland of the Middle East” is no longer only the quiet host of talks between enemies; it is becoming a target of pressure because its diplomacy points toward a Gulf order less dependent on US coercion.

Muscat’s diplomatic capital

Oman’s value in the Persian Gulf rests on a combination of geography, restraint, and accumulated trust. For decades, Muscat has acted as a channel between states that cannot speak directly, from the US and Iran to rival Gulf capitals and the de facto government in Sanaa and Saudi Arabia. Its relations with Tehran predate the Islamic Republic, and have usually been guided less by ideology than by the hard facts of coastline, trade, and security.

Ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz must move through the Gulf of Oman... This makes Oman indispensable to every actor involved: Iran, the GCC states, Pakistan, India, China, the US, and the European energy markets that depend on Gulf supply.

“This is an old-new issue,” he says, pointing to the 1974 Oman–Iran agreement during the Shah’s era, when the two sides divided responsibilities in the Strait of Hormuz. He says Oman’s role later developed around supervising passage, protecting its territorial waters, preserving the marine environment, and guiding vessels through the strait.

In Iranian foreign policy, Oman’s utility is obvious. Unlike Riyadh during the peak years of Saudi–Iranian confrontation, Muscat never tried to turn its relationship with Tehran into a sectarian or ideological battlefield.

It maintained communication, protected its autonomy, and refused to become a platform for maximum-pressure campaigns. That posture has now given Oman room to speak to Iran at a moment when few others can.

Inside the GCC, Oman has rarely acted as a spoiler. But in Iran, Yemen, and Palestine, Muscat has often kept its distance...

❗️Sky News divests from Arabic channel following scandal over UAE whitewashing of Sudan genocide

The UK’s Sky News Group has quietly exited its joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based International Media Investments (IMI), handing full strategic and operational control of Sky News Arabia to the Emirati firm. While the station will continue to use the Sky brand under a lucrative multi-year licensing agreement, the buyout ends a sixteen-year partnership established to compete with regional giants Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.

IMI is owned by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and the transfer effectively cements absolute Emirati state control over the network's editorial direction.

The abrupt restructuring follows intense scrutiny and growing panic among UK executives over the channel’s biased coverage of the Sudanese genocide. Sky News Arabia has faced severe condemnation for acting as a direct mouthpiece for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the UAE-backed paramilitary group accused by United Nations investigators of carrying out a campaign of genocide and starvation in Darfur.

Internal sources revealed to Middle East Eye that Sky executives became deeply concerned after the Arabic channel repeatedly aired reports whitewashing RSF atrocities and questioning the evidence of mass killings brought forward by survivors and international monitors.

The final straw for the British broadcaster came after Sky News Arabia sent a reporter married to a senior RSF official to the besieged city of El-Fasher, where she was filmed hugging an RSF commander who had previously incited fighters to rape Darfuri women.

Sky News Arabia has been accused of serving as the UAE's 'mouthpiece' and whitewashing the crimes of the RSF in Sudan

The Sky Group media conglomerate announced on 1 June the end of its joint ownership of Sky News Arabia, transferring full control of the Arabic-language satellite channel to its UAE-based partner, International Media Investments (IMI).

London-based Sky Group and IMI launched Sky News Arabia in 2012 to compete with West Asia broadcasters such as Qatari-owned Al Jazeera and Saudi-owned Al Arabiya.

IMI will assume full ownership of the network's operations but will continue to use the Sky brand under a multi-year licensing agreement.

“The time is right for this change, and we look forward to continuing our relationship in the next phase of Sky News Arabia,” stated David Rhodes, executive chairman of Sky News Group.

Rhodes said the company was proud of its partnership with IMI, describing the change as the next stage in Sky News Arabia's development.

❗️France bans Israeli officials and weapons manufacturers from premier European arms fair

The French government has barred Israeli government officials and national delegations from attending the upcoming Eurosatory defense exhibition in Paris. Under the strict directives issued by French authorities, Israel is prohibited from establishing its traditional national pavilion at the premier European arms fair.

Furthermore, Paris has banned Israeli weapons manufacturers from showcasing any offensive combat hardware, restricting the remaining corporate attendees exclusively to the display of defensive anti-air systems during the event later this month.

The Israeli Defense Ministry lashed out at the restriction on Monday, labeling the move a "shameful decision" that unfairly penalizes its state-backed 'defense' sector.
