Australian participants from the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla have joined a major submission to the International Criminal Court detailing severe torture, beatings, and sexual violence suffered during Israeli captivity. The legal filing in The Hague follows a spring 2026 raid by Israeli forces who pirated the aid mission in international waters, abducting and jailing hundreds of international activists before deporting 430 of them to Istanbul.

Flotilla organizers presented survivor testimonies, medical records, and sworn affidavits to the court, including evidence that an Australian humanitarian worker was forcibly injected with an unidentified substance by Israeli jailers.

The submission directly challenges Tel Aviv's claims of humane treatment and coincides with Israel's formal inclusion on the United Nations blacklist for sexual violence in conflict zones. The Israeli Prison Service was specifically designated on the 2026 blacklist following systematic reports of abuse against detainees, which gained global attention after Israeli Interior Minister Itamar Ben Gvir posted footage taunting the handcuffed activists. The footage drew sharp condemnation from western allies, including the US, UK, and France.

In Canberra, returning Australian survivors expressed outrage after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declined multiple requests to meet with them. Activists criticized the federal government for its complicity and silence, noting the deep hypocrisy of Australian citizens securing a hearing in The Hague while being entirely ignored by their own leadership.

The Global Sumud Flotilla continues to demand independent international investigations and the enforcement of arrest warrants for the Israeli officials responsible for the assault.

⭕️ Israel pushing West Bank healthcare system to brink of collapse as medicines run out and clinics shut down

An investigation by Haaretz published on 31 May warns that the Palestinian health system in the occupied West Bank is nearing collapse amid a deep financial crisis that has left hospitals understaffed, pharmacies depleted, and thousands of patients at risk.

The Palestinian Health Ministry's debt has reached 2.6 billion shekels, nearly matching its entire 2025 budget of 2.89 billion shekels, while doctors, nurses, and other public-sector employees continue to receive only partial salaries. Essential medicines are disappearing from government pharmacies, including treatments for cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, forcing many patients to go without care because they cannot afford private alternatives.

According to Haaretz, the crisis is being driven primarily by Israel's continued seizure of Palestinian customs revenues and the ban preventing roughly 170,000 Palestinian workers from returning to jobs inside Israel. Since early May, doctors and nurses in the public sector have been on strike over years of reduced wages, affecting 447 of the West Bank's 590 Health Ministry clinics.

Government hospitals are now largely limited to providing life-saving care, while shortages of medication, disposable medical equipment, maintenance funding, and staff have severely degraded services for pregnant women, infants, disabled children, and schoolchildren.

The report says the Health Ministry owes approximately 1.3 billion shekels to pharmaceutical suppliers and a similar amount to private and nongovernmental hospitals. Of the 1,260 medications regularly purchased by the ministry, only 260 remain in stock, according to Palestinian Health Minister Majed Abu Ramadan.

Pharmaceutical companies say they can no longer continue supplying medicines on credit, while hospitals across the West Bank and East Jerusalem are cutting salaries, delaying procedures, and increasingly requiring patients to cover parts of their treatment costs themselves. Medical professionals interviewed by Haaretz described the system as being "on the verge of collapse," warning of rising mortality rates among chronically ill patients.

Haaretz also points to broader Israeli policies that have worsened the crisis, including efforts to restrict the work of UNRWA, international aid organizations, and Palestinian civil society groups, alongside the expansion of more than 1,000 checkpoints and roadblocks across the West Bank.

These restrictions have complicated ambulance access, delayed urgent medical treatment, increased transportation costs, and isolated vulnerable patients from care. Palestinian Medical Relief Society director Mustafa Barghouti told the newspaper that when all the factors are considered together, the health crisis appears to be the result of a "careful and calculated" process.

Despite emergency interventions and limited European funding, Palestinian officials warn that the aid being provided remains insignificant compared to the scale of the collapse facing the West Bank's healthcare sector.

According to sources close to Yemen's Ansarallah movement cited by Mehr News Agency, political, military, and operational coordination between Ansarallah, the Lebanese resistance, and other Axis of Resistance groups has never stopped.

The sources said any new escalation by Israel would be met with a unified response from the Axis of Resistance, stressing that Sanaa will not allow Lebanon to be left exposed to Israeli attacks and will not allow Hezbollah to stand alone on the battlefield.

They also said there is widespread public readiness and enthusiasm in Yemen to join the fight alongside the Lebanese resistance, with Yemeni fighters reportedly eager to take part in any future confrontation.

UPDATE | Reports of casualties and dozens injured after Israel deliberately targeted the vicinity of Jabal Amel Hospital, the last functioning hospital in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre.

The hospital's intensive care unit, along with other wards, have been severely damaged.

❗️Israeli lawmakers advance Knesset dissolution bill as coalition crisis deepens

The Knesset House Committee voted 8-0 to advance a coalition-backed bill to dissolve parliament, clearing the way for a first reading later today. The legislation already passed a preliminary vote on 20 May by 110 votes to 0, but must still pass three additional readings before taking effect.

No election date has been finalized due to disagreements within the coalition. Lawmakers are discussing dates between 8 September and 20 October, although coalition whip Ofir Katz said a different date could still be chosen later. Under current law, elections are scheduled for 27 October, and Israel's Central Elections Committee has requested at least 83 days' notice to prepare for a vote.

The push for early elections stems from a growing crisis between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ultra-Orthodox coalition partners over the controversial military conscription bill. The Haredi parties began backing dissolution after Netanyahu reportedly told them the draft-exemption legislation lacked sufficient support to pass, while leaders within the ultra-Orthodox camp have publicly stated they no longer trust him.

According to Israeli media, the ultra-Orthodox parties favor elections in September, believing it could boost turnout among their voters, while Netanyahu prefers a late October vote to give his coalition more time to pass legislation and pursue military objectives. The Israeli army has repeatedly warned of manpower shortages, making the conscription dispute one of the central issues driving the coalition toward possible collapse.
