AIPAC 'Hides' Support For Democratic Candidates As Support For Israel Now Viewed As 'Toxic': Report

Only 13 percent of Democratic voters in the US view Israel favorably, making support from the lobbying group AIPAC a liability

The pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC has begun hiding its involvement in funding political campaigns for candidates running for public office in the US, as support for Israel becomes increasingly toxic among Democratic voters, Haaretz reported on 31 May.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has traditionally boasted of its success in helping elect candidates for Congress and the Senate who are committed to supporting Israel, including voting to provide it billions in US military aid each year.

However, as Israel continues to commit genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and wage war on Lebanon and Iran, US voters are beginning to view Israel and its lobby in the US in an increasingly negative light.

Support among Democrats has fallen to particularly low levels, making AIPAC campaign contributions to Democratic candidates a potential liability.

"But as the Israel-boosting organization's brand becomes toxic in many Democratic primaries, [AIPAC] has adopted a new fundraising method that hides its involvement in steering funds to favored contenders," Haaretz writes.

🚨 Telegram Proposes Renaming Toncoin To Gram In Bid To Return To Network’s Founding Vision

The move is step 4 of 7 in Durov's Make TON Great Again plan.

Telegram has proposed renaming TON’s native cryptocurrency from Toncoin to Gram as Pavel Durov advances his “Make TON Great Again” (MTONGA) roadmap.

Durov announced the move on Monday via his official Telegram channel and described it as a return to the project’s roots and the start of a new chapter. The rebrand is part of step four of his seven-step MTONGA plan.

TON rallied approximately 9% to trade above $2 after the news broke. The asset previously more than doubled following Durov’s statement that Telegram became TON’s largest validator.

According to TON, Gram was the name originally assigned to the token in the project’s whitepaper and has never been removed from the underlying code. The rebrand would not affect the TON blockchain, user balances, addresses, contracts, NFTs, staking positions or DeFi applications, eliminating the need for any migration process.

The proposal comes as Telegram takes on a leading role in the network. The team stated that recent developments have boosted blockchain performance tenfold while lowering fees by approximately six times.

The transition will take approximately three weeks, Durov said.
