Ahmadinejad Says Enemies Destroy Iran's Rain Clouds: Reports — Reuters

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused his country's enemies of enacting a sinister plan to create a drought by somehow destroying the rain clouds before they reach Iran, several Iranian websites reported on Tuesday.

Well-known for his anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric, Ahmadinejad has made similar remarks before and last year accused the West of devising a plot to cause drought in the Islamic republic.

"The enemy destroys the clouds that are headed towards our country and this is a war Iran will win," Ahmadinejad said on Monday, according to several websites including the BBC's Persian-language site and www.snn.ir.

Iran has one of the world's driest climates and officials have warned that a severe lack of rainfall in parts of the country has created drought-like conditions.

Ahmadinejad has courted controversy in the past, not least by denying that the Nazi Holocaust - in which six million Jews were killed - ever happened, a stance that drew furious criticism from politicians across the globe.

The Iranian authorities have repeatedly accused the West of hatching plots to undermine Islamic leadership.
Iran is also at odds with the United States and its allies over its disputed nuclear program which the West fears is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. Tehran denies its program has any military dimension.

On Monday April 1st, the Tennessee House voted to approve a bill that would prohibit the "intentional injection, release, or dispersion" of chemicals into the air to prevent climate change or alter the weather, also known as geoengineering.

During the hearing, Representative John Ray Clemmons introduced an amendment to protect Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch or Yeti) in an attempt to mock the so-called chemtrails bill.

State Rep. Justin Pearson also joined in on the mocking of "conspiracy theorists" who seek to protect the public from spraying.

❗️Syria’s unelected president urges EU to curb Israeli violations, citing threats to stability

Speaking in the Cypriot capital of Nicosia following the European Union summit, Syria’s unelected President Ahmed al-Sharaa called on European partners to take a firm stance against escalating Israeli military aggression.

According to Levant24, he characterized the ongoing Israeli ground incursions, airstrikes, and near-daily breaches of Syrian airspace as blatant violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and international law. He emphasized that these repeated assaults do not only threaten immediate security but actively sabotage the nation's recovery and reconstruction efforts, which serve as the foundation for any stable partnership with the EU.

🇮🇱 Former Israeli PMs Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid announced the merger of their parties into a single unified faction called "Together," led by Bennett, a "first step to repair the State of Israel."

The unification aims to replace Netanyahu, seeking to "end internal divisions" within the anti-Netanyahu bloc and focus on the next Israeli elections, scheduled for this October.

A similar coalition between the two was formed in 2021 but lasted only 18 months before Netanyahu regained control of the government by late 2022.

Israeli society, however, appears largely disappointed, or at least split, over Netanyahu's performance on many issues, especially since Hamas' October 7 attacks.

The new "Together" coalition could hope for a win if it manages to attract more moderates to the anti-Netanyahu bloc ahead of the elections.

Whether this will have any real impact, and what it implies for Israel's foreign policy in the region, especially given how new rulesets have reshaped the landscape following Oct 7 and the two Iran wars, remains to be seen.
