Middle East Spectator — MES
❗️🇺🇸/🇮🇷 President Trump on Truth Social: ‘Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz - A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom. That wasn't nice,…
❗️🇺🇸/🇮🇷 Summary of President Trump’s post:

– He says Iran breached the ceasefire by closing the Strait of Hormuz again.

– An American delegation will depart to Islamabad tomorrow for a second round of talks, and Trump urges Iran to attend and accept the deal the U.S. is going to offer.

– If Iran does not accept, it will be ‘Power Plant and Bridge Day’. Quote: ‘The United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!’

Trump is too dumb to understand that EVEN IF Iran was inclined to make a deal on his terms (which it very much isn’t), these type of threats and posts ordering Iran to surrender will achieve the opposite of what he wants.

Do you really think Iran will now agree to anything he has proposed? That would be a total humiliation ritual and no serious diplomat would consider it any longer, even if it was hypothetically being considered.

In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Iran considers these threats so insulting and a sign of bad intentions, that negotiations don’t even proceed.

❗️🇮🇷 NEW: Sources tell MES of ‘scatter orders’ being issued to Iranian military personnel.

What that means is, stay away from each other when possible, don’t stay in the same place for long periods of time, minimize communications.

❗️🇺🇸/🇮🇷 President Trump on Truth Social:

‘Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them.

The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop.

The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel.

The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship, and are seeing what's on board!’

❗️Somalia condemns Israeli move in Somaliland as breach of sovereignty, says Israel is trying to fragment region further

Somalia’s state minister for foreign affairs has condemned Israel’s recognition of a region within Somaliland, saying the move violates Somalia’s sovereignty and risks deepening instability in a strategically sensitive region. The remarks were delivered on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum as Mogadishu pressed its case against the development.

“The actions of Israelis are trying to create more difficulty in a region that is already fragmented,” he said, warning that further division could create a vacuum that may be exploited by Al-Shabaab and ISIS. He also warned that instability could endanger maritime navigation and commercial shipping, stressing that the global system cannot absorb another strategic choke point like the Strait of Hormuz.

Ali Mohammad Omar said the decision, which took place in late December, has driven Somalia to intensify diplomatic efforts to secure broader international backing. He added that Mogadishu has been engaging regional and global partners to build opposition to the move.

He also noted that several countries and international organizations, including Turkiye, have expressed support for Somalia’s position, as the Horn of Africa continues to sit at the center of competing geopolitical interests.

Persian Gulf Oil Production Can Take Two Years To Recover From War: Iea Chief

Both the US and Iran have increased oil exports since the start of the war, while oil production and exports from Gulf states have fallen

It could take up to two years for oil production in West Asia to return to levels from before the start of the US-Israel war on Iran in late February, Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), told Bloomberg on 17 April.

There is a general belief that the minute we see the strait open ... we come back to the level of production before – which is, in my view, misleading,” Birol stated.

West Asia oil production was disrupted by the US-Israeli bombing campaign, which targeted Iranian oil and energy infrastructure.

Iran retaliated by targeting Gulf oil and gas infrastructure. It also threatened to target ships linked to the “enemy” in the Strait of Hormuz, effectively closing the waterway through which most Gulf oil is exported.

The recovery will be gradual as damage from the conflict has affected oil fields, refineries, and pipelines across the Persian Gulf,” Birol said.
