Rising Number Of US Troops Oppose Iran War, Refuse To 'Die For Israel': Report
US soldiers say they have no protection from Iranian missiles and drones targeting US bases in the Gulf
More and more US troops deployed to West Asia are expressing doubts about fighting in the war against Iran, including having to “die for Israel,” the Huffington Post reported on 23 March.
A veteran and reservist who mentors younger officers told HuffPost that troops she speaks with are expressing a loss of faith after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu helped push US President Donald Trump to go to war against Iran.
“I’m hearing out of service members’ mouths the words, ’We do not want to die for Israel – we don’t want to be political pawns,” she said.
“I’ve shared conscientious objector information six times in the past two weeks, and I’ve been in the military almost 20 years – I’ve never had people reach out this way,” the first reservist continued.
Interviews with active-duty soldiers, reservists, and advocacy groups conducted by HuffPost found that many US troops expressed feeling vulnerable, overwhelming stress, frustration, and disillusionment to the extent that they wished to leave the military.

US Patriot Missile Injured Dozens In Bahrain During ‘Irresponsible Interception’
A group of researchers determined that US military troops were the ones operating the battery
A US-operated Patriot missile battery was responsible for the blast that injured dozens of people in Bahrain earlier this month, according to new academic research reviewed by Reuters on 22 March.
Reuters: A Patriot interceptor missile involved in a March 9 explosion in Bahrain was likely launched from a U.S.-operated battery, according to analysis by Middlebury Institute researchers.

The research was conducted by Sam Lair, Michael Duitsman, and Professor Jeffrey Lewis of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.
The data reveals “with moderate-to-high confidence that the suspect missile was likely launched from a US Patriot battery located about four miles to the southwest of the Mahazza neighborhood.”
Wes Bryant, a former senior targeting advisor and policy analyst at the Pentagon, told Reuters the research’s conclusions were “pretty undeniable.”

In December 2025, Israel made a surprising move by recognizing Somaliland’s independence and establishing relations. The reason is now coming into focus: Israel was already bracing for all-out war with Iran.
Limited access to the Strait of Hormuz made sense for Israel as well:
To offset the disruption, Israel needed a secure maritime corridor through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait—the closest Arabian Sea shipping route to the Red Sea and the port of Eilat.
Even if the Houthis entered the war and closed both the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb to shipping heading towards Eilat, Israeli ships would be able to enter ports in Somaliland, as they have already established bilateral relations.

Urgent Appeal To The World: The Knesset's National Security Committee approved a bill tonight to impose the death penalty on prisoners no matter their age or crime, paving the way for its second and third readings.
The proposal stipulates:
• Mandatory imposition of the death penalty without requiring unanimity.
• Execution by hanging carried out by the Prison Service.
• Implementation within a specified period not exceeding 90 days.
• No possibility of pardon.
The bill is scheduled to be put to a vote in the Knesset next week for its second and third readings.

Iran Rejects US Proposal To End War, Lays Out Its Own Conditions: Iranian Media
Iran’s PressTV reported on Wednesday that Tehran has rejected the Trump administration’s 15-point proposal to end the war the US and Israel launched on February 28 and laid out its own conditions to end the conflict.
“Iran will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met,” an unnamed Iranian official told PressTV . The official added that the US proposal includes demands that are “excessive” considering the situation on the battlefield.
The official pointed to the fact that Iran has been attacked twice during previous negotiations with the US, suggesting the current US push for diplomacy could be a deception. Publicly, Iranian officials have denied President Trump’s claims that the US and Iran have held negotiations and have said they don’t seek a ceasefire.
The official speaking to PressTV said Iran laid out five conditions to end the war, which include:
According to a report from Axios , Iran had told mediating countries that it suspected the US proposal was a ruse since it came as the US was surging more troops to the region and planning for potential ground operations in Iran. A US official told Axios reporter Barak Ravid that the US hasn’t received a formal response to the proposal through the mediators.

The Israeli prime minister acknowledged that bombing would not lead to regime change in Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embraced a Mossad plan to spark a popular uprising at the start of the Iran war and is now “frustrated” that the plan has failed, the New York Times (NYT) reported on 22 March.
“Behind the scenes,” the NYT report said, Netanyahu “has expressed frustration that Mossad’s promises to foment revolt in Iran have not materialized.”
Citing current and former US and Israeli intelligence officials, NYT wrote that Netanyahu discussed the plan with US President Donald Trump while encouraging him to go to war against Iran.
US and Israeli officials told NYT they now wonder if regime change is possible and believe that conditions are not right for a popular uprising.

The Israeli prime minister acknowledged that bombing would not lead to regime change in Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embraced a Mossad plan to spark a popular uprising at the start of the Iran war and is now “frustrated” that the plan has failed, the New York Times (NYT) reported on 22 March.
“Behind the scenes,” the NYT report said, Netanyahu “has expressed frustration that Mossad’s promises to foment revolt in Iran have not materialized.”
Citing current and former US and Israeli intelligence officials, NYT wrote that Netanyahu discussed the plan with US President Donald Trump while encouraging him to go to war against Iran.
US and Israeli officials told NYT they now wonder if regime change is possible and believe that conditions are not right for a popular uprising.
US and Israeli intelligence already helped spark protests and violent riots in the Islamic Republic in early January, as a prelude to launching the war in late February.
