Gaza Under Threat Of Famine As Israel Cuts Aid Deliveries To 10 Percent Of Required Amount

Israeli troops killed two Palestinian families on Sunday, including a pregnant mother carrying twins

Israel is strangling Gaza, allowing only a fraction of the needed humanitarian aid and commercial supplies to enter the strip amid the ongoing war against Iran, Palestinian officials warned on 16 March.

The Israeli military has allowed just 640 aid trucks out of the 6,000 expected under existing arrangements, according to Ismail al-Thawabta, director general of the Government Media Office in Gaza.

This amounts to just 10 percent of what Israel had previously committed to allow entry, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the strip created by Israel throughout its two-year genocide of Palestinians and raising the specter of another famine.

In August 2025, the UN declared a famine in Gaza due to the Israeli blockade of the strip.

“Israel is taking advantage of the world's preoccupation with the war on Iran and increasing restrictions on Gaza,” said Abu Mohsen, a 33-year-old Palestinian living in a tent in north Gaza.

❗️US senator says Trump has lost control of war on Iran

A senior US lawmaker has warned that Washington and Tel Aviv have pushed West Asia into a rapidly escalating crisis after launching a war on Iran, saying President Donald Trump has “lost control” of the war and misjudged Tehran’s ability to respond. In a series of posts on X, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy argued that the war has already set the region on a dangerous trajectory of expanding violence.

Murphy pointed to the Strait of Hormuz, through which more than a fifth of the world’s oil and gas passes, warning that Washington underestimated Iran’s capacity to disrupt the critical shipping lane. “Trump believed Iran would not close the Strait of Hormuz. He was wrong. And now oil prices are spiking,” he wrote, adding that swarms of drones, speedboats and sea mines make the waterway extremely difficult to secure and would place US naval forces at serious risk if tanker escorts become necessary.

The senator also warned that cheap weaponized drones give Iran the ability to strike energy infrastructure indefinitely while regional air defenses are already under strain. He said the conflict is widening as resistance groups in Lebanon and Iraq open new fronts against Israel and US positions, while Yemen and Syria could soon follow. Murphy added that the administration has no strategy to end the war and warned that any US ground invasion would be catastrophic, while a premature declaration of victory would simply allow Iran to rebuild. “Trump has lost control of the war,” he wrote. “His best course now is to cut his losses and end it before an even bigger disaster unfolds.”
