Tunisian Man Sentenced To Death For Facebook Posts Critical Of President Kais Saied

A mock page name and a few satirical posts are now grounds for death in the Tunisia that once promised free speech.

A Tunisian court has handed down a death sentence to a man accused of posting critical remarks about President Kais Saied on Facebook, a decision that has sent shockwaves through the country’s already tense political climate.

Lawyer Oussama Bouthalja confirmed that 56-year-old day laborer Saber Chouchane was convicted over social media posts that mocked and denounced the president.

❗️US military aid to Israel exceeds $21.7bn since Gaza war began, study finds

A new report by Brown University’s Costs of War project has revealed that Washington has supplied Israel with at least $21.7bn in military assistance since the start of its genocide in October 2023.

The study, covering both the Biden and Trump administrations, says US military spending in West Asia has reached an additional $10bn over the same period.

The figure is based on open-source data and congressional notifications.

Neither the State Department nor the White House commented on the findings, while the Pentagon, which administers part of the aid, did not respond to requests for clarification.

The report was released as Gaza marks two years of Israel’s ongoing genocide, with attacks across the enclave still being reported.

The assault came shortly after government-backed settler militias launched a similar attack in the same town.

🇮🇱/🇷🇺/🇮🇷/🇺🇦 NEW: During Putin's phone call with Netanyahu yesterday, the Israeli Prime Minister asked Russia to 'reconsider' its weapons shipments to Iran, reportedly threatening that if Russia doesn't stop arming Iran, Israel could intensify its military aid to Ukraine in the future

🇮🇱/🇵🇸 Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu: 'We're not killing Palestinians, we're killing Hamas'

🇮🇱 NOTE: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's public relations team has been rapidly arranging interviews and media appearances since June to improve Israel's image. Yet, polls show that public opinion of the Jewish state has sunk to new lows, and these media appearances have been largely unsuccessful, as evident from his UN speech, which addressed an empty hall

His recent appearances with podcasters and media hosts include Dinesh D'Souza, Brandon Tatum, Patrick Bet-David, Ben Shapiro, the Nelk Boys, Triggernometry, and back-to-back interviews with Fox, Sky News, Euro News, and many more.

Each time, the backdrop is the same: Netanyahu sitting in his office, and the talking points remain unchanged, with the hosts never daring to challenge him.

🇺🇸 U.S. president, Donald Trump, is "seriously considering" invoking the Insurrection Act and deploy active-duty troops inside the U.S. to enforce the law.

Recall that Trump said he wanted Chicago mayor, Brandon Johnson and Illinois governor, Jay Robert Pritzker arrested for interfering with the activity of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
