According to Israel’s Channel 12, “Israel and Syria are expected to sign a security agreement aimed at stabilizing the situation in Syria and preventing threats to Israel.”
“The understandings include the demilitarization of the Syrian Golan Heights, preventing the reconstruction of the Syrian army, and establishing a humanitarian corridor to Mountain of the Druze (Jabal al-Druze),” the report added.
The demilitarization includes barring the entry of any weapons into Syria that could pose a threat to Israel.

❗️Kurds reject Syria’s transitional parliament process as 'undemocratic and exclusionary'
The Kurdish-led Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) on Sunday denounced Damascus’s decision to postpone parliamentary selections in Kurdish-held regions, calling the process “neither democratic nor representative of the Syrian people.”
The body said defining its territories as unsafe was a political excuse to marginalize more than five million Syrians in Hasakah, Raqqa, and other areas under its control, stressing that “northern and eastern Syria are the safest regions.”
The criticism came after Syria’s new electoral committee announced that transitional parliamentary selections, set for September 15–20, would not take place in Suwayda, Hasakah, and Raqqa provinces due to “security challenges.”
Under the interim constitution adopted after Bashar al-Assad’s fall in December, two-thirds of the 210-member People’s Council will be appointed by local bodies, while self-appointed President Ahmed al-Sharaa will select the remaining 70 lawmakers.
The arrangement has already drawn fire for concentrating power in the presidency and sidelining minorities.
AANES warned that “any decision taken through this approach of exclusion will not concern us, and we will not consider it binding,” adding that the process merely repeats decades of Baathist marginalization.
It urged the United Nations and international community not to recognize the outcome and said only an “inclusive political track where everyone participates” can address Syria’s long-standing crises.

Thirty Druze Factions Merge To Defend Suwayda Following July Massacres
Syrian authorities have excluded Suwayda and the Kurdish-controlled north east from participating in elections for a transitional parliament
Local armed factions in the Druze-majority governorate of Suwayda in southern Syria announced on 24 August the formation of the "National Guard" under the leadership of Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri.
The new military formation brings together 30 local factions to better protect Suwayda following the killing of Druze fighters and civilians by forces loyal to interim Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa in July.
The announcement of the National Guard was made through a recorded statement published on the guard's official Facebook page.
The statement expressed "our condolences to the souls of our righteous martyrs who died in battles of honor and dignity," to defend the Druze "against abhorrent Salafist gangs who practiced murder and terrorism in the name of an alleged state that made no distinction between human and stone."
According to the UN, Sharaa's forces killed at least 1,000 Druze fighters and civilians, including 196 people who were extrajudicially executed during a week-long invasion of Suwayda beginning on 13 July.

The Russian government is moving ahead with a new policy that will require all smartphones and tablets sold in the country to include MAX, its state-developed messaging app , as a default feature. The regulation is set to come into force on September 1.
This mandate will apply to all mobile devices, obligating manufacturers to preinstall both MAX and RuStore, Russia’s homegrown app store. RuStore, which had previously been limited to Android platforms, will now also need to be included on Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads.
MAX is expected to become integrated with various government service platforms.
While the app has faced repeated allegations of being used to surveil users on behalf of state authorities, these claims have been firmly denied in coverage by state media outlets.
This move adds to a growing effort by Russian officials to assert more control over private communication tools. Earlier in the month, the Kremlin imposed restrictions on voice calls via WhatsApp and Telegram, pointing to what it described as a refusal to cooperate in cases tied to fraud and terrorism.
WhatsApp remains the most widely used messaging service in Russia with 97.3 million users. Telegram follows closely with 90.8 million. VK Messenger, run by a company backed by the state, trails far behind with 17.9 million users.
MAX recently announced it had reached 18 million users. On the same day, authorities reported the first arrest of someone who had used the app, describing the case as connected to fraud.
