Haaretz publishes a new report on Israeli soldiers' work at GHG in Gaza. A veteran soldier revealed that any private contractor working in Gaza with engineering equipment receives 5,000 [roughly $1,500] shekels for every house they demolish, adding that they're making a fortune and any moment where they don't demolish houses is a loss of money.

The soldier also said that the contractors are being secured by Israeli forces and in order for the contractors to protect themselves, a shooting incident breaks out, and people are killed. "These are areas where Palestinians are allowed to be – we're the ones who moved closer and decided [they] endangered us. So, for a contractor to make another 5,000 shekels and take down a house, it's deemed acceptable to kill people who are only looking for food," the soldier concluded.

For Arab States, An Enduring Iran Is Far Better Than A Victorious Israel

With a US-brokered ceasefire temporarily halting direct hostilities between Tel Aviv and Tehran, the Persian Gulf states are confronting a new strategic equation: A humbled Iran is dangerous, but a triumphant Israel is worse.

At his 16 June press conference, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boldly declared, “We are changing the face of the Middle East,” as occupation forces pounded Axis of Resistance targets on multiple fronts. Netanyahu's “change” was launched three days earlier with blistering strikes on Tehran, its military and nuclear facilities, and the assassinations of its top military commanders and nuclear scientists.

Tel Aviv's direct clashes with Tehran were intended to push the region decisively to the edge of a broader war – one currently only paused by a US-imposed ceasefire on Tel Aviv.

For Arab states of the Persian Gulf – especially those allied with Washington – the sudden halt exposed a harsh reality: If Tel Aviv emerges from this confrontation dominant, the Arab world loses its last meaningful leverage.

A decisive Israeli victory over Iran and its allies in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen would eliminate the last deterrents to Tel Aviv's openly-touted, regional territorial expansion into Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine – even Jordan and Iraq. The Palestinian cause – long a strategic pressure card for Arab governments – would be dismantled overnight. And Gulf rulers, once shielded by regional rivalries, would find themselves beholden to an emboldened occupation state.

But only 11 days later, and despite US President Donald Trump’s claim of “obliterating” Iran’s nuclear program, US intelligence concluded that Tel Aviv's – and later, Washington's strikes – had only delayed Tehran's enrichment cycle by a few months, key sites remained intact, and Iran had managed to move much of its enriched uranium prior to the attacks.

Egypt and Cyprus remain overwhelmed by fleeing Israelis, as regional officials warn of surveillance threats and activists condemn selective border treatment

El Al, Israel's national airliner, has introduced heavily subsidized return flights on 25 June aimed at repatriating Israelis who fled during the recent war against Iran.

The state-backed offer includes capped fares through the end of June – $99 from European cities and $649–699 from the US – roughly half the standard price. Once repatriation flights are full, remaining seats will become available to the general public.

In Cyprus, where thousands of Israelis remain, emergency repatriation efforts continue. Cruise ships and diverted flights have brought back many in recent days, but Jewish community leaders warn that shelters and resources are overstretched as people await flights home.

This campaign was triggered by the closure of Israeli airspace on 13 June, after Iranian missile strikes damaged key infrastructure following Israeli attacks on top Iranian figures.

Since the ceasefire went into effect on 24 June, Israeli airports such as Ben Gurion and Haifa have fully reopened, and wartime travel restrictions – including the exit ban – have been lifted.

IDF officers and soldiers told Haaretz they were ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near food distribution sites in Gaza, even when no threat was present. Israeli soldiers in Gaza told Haaretz that the army has deliberately fired at Palestinians near aid distribution sites over the past month.

Conversations with officers and soldiers reveal that commanders ordered troops to shoot at crowds to drive them away or disperse them, even though it was clear they posed no threat.

One soldier described the situation as a total breakdown of the Israel Defense Forces' ethical codes in Gaza.

Israel Is Building A Tunnel To Cut Off Palestinians From The Heart Of The West Bank

How the underground roads project started

One underground tunnel will soon be the only connection between 1.5 million Palestinians in the southern West Bank and the rest of the territory. This recently approved infrastructure plan, dubbed the “Fabric of Life” project, would effectively split the West Bank into two .

Transportation for Palestinians in the Bethlehem and Hebron governorates to Jericho in the Jordan Valley would go through a new underground tunnel Israel is planning to build to bypass the wilderness east of Jerusalem. What this means is that the entire space between Jerusalem and the edges of the Jordan Valley would become accessible to Israelis only.

The project, approved by the Israeli government earlier this month, will cost $90 billion, which Israel plans to cover from a special fund it feeds with pirated Palestinian customs money collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority (PA). These funds are ostensibly meant for development projects for the Palestinian population in the West Bank, but the project isn’t about the improvement of Palestinian transportation — it’s about the consolidation of Israeli control over the geographic area of the West Bank east of Jerusalem. The Fabric of Life project would effectively ban any Palestinian circulation in this zone.

The larger context of the Fabric of Life is only one piece in Israel’s larger “Greater Jerusalem” development plans, which Israel first laid out in the early 2000s under then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

The idea is simple; connect East Jerusalem, which Israel annexed in 1981 and treats like a part of its territory, to a series of Israeli settlements which extend east of the city through the Jerusalem desert, reaching the very edge of the Jordan Valley. This would transform the some 12-square kilometers in the West Bank targeted by this project into an extension of the eastern limits of Jerusalem. On Israeli maps, this is known as the E-1 area, which stands for “East-1.”
