3/15 - Israel Bombs South Lebanon Three Times In 24 Hours, Expands Occupation

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that Tel Aviv ‘will not relinquish control’ of the areas it illegally occupies in Lebanon

The Israeli army bombed a vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Mays al-Jabal on 16 March, killing one person and marking the third deadly attack on Lebanon in 24 hours.

“An Israeli enemy drone attacked a car in the town of Mays al-Jabal, killing one person,” Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported.

"This is the third Israeli attack on southern Lebanon within 24 hours, following the targeting of the towns of Yater and Burj al-Muluk … three people were martyred in the three raids," NNA added.

The strike on a car in Yater took place just shortly after midnight on Saturday. The drone attack in Burj al-Muluk, which also hit a vehicle, happened several hours earlier. Two others were injured in both attacks.

The Israeli army said on Sunday that it “eliminated two terrorists” in Mays al-Jabal and Yater, who were “involved in directing terrorist operations.” On Saturday afternoon, the army announced an attack targeting a Hezbollah “terrorist” in the Kfar Kila area.

Hamas Has Rebuilt Forces To Over 25,000 Fighters: Israeli Lawmakers

The Knesset members have called for an urgent committee hearing with the participation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz, stressing Israel's failure to meet its war goals and return Israeli captives from Gaza

A group of Israeli Knesset members (MKs) said on 16 March that Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) have "restored their military strength" in Gaza and that the Israeli military has failed to achieve its war goals amid stalled ceasefire negotiations, Israeli newspaper Walla reported.

"In recent days, we have been informed that the military strength of Hamas and Islamic Jihad has been restored, such that Hamas has over 25,000 and Islamic Jihad has over 5,000 armed terrorists," stated the Knesset members.

The MKs, including opposition members of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, made the claim in a petition they sent calling for an urgent committee hearing with the participation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz.

A committee hearing is necessary due to the "failure to achieve the war's goals and the harm to security and national interests."

MKs Gadi Eisenkot, Ram Ben Barak, Meir Cohen, Elazar Stern, Moshe Tor Paz, Sharon Nir, and Merv Michaeli signed the petition.
