Arab states have endorsed an Egyptian reconstruction plan for Gaza that rejects any displacement of Palestinians

Washington has rejected the Egyptian post-war Gaza proposal put forward by Arab states at a summit in Cairo this week, doubling down on US President Donald Trump’s vision for the expulsion of Palestinians and the takeover of the strip.

“The current proposal does not address the reality that Gaza is currently uninhabitable and residents cannot humanely live in a territory covered in debris and unexploded ordnance,” US National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said in a statement on 4 March.

“President Trump stands by his vision to rebuild Gaza free from Hamas. We look forward to further talks to bring peace and prosperity to the region,” the statement added.

At a highly anticipated summit in Cairo on Tuesday, Arab states endorsed an Egyptian plan to reconstruct the Gaza plan. The plan would see Hamas give up governance of Gaza. A detailed draft of the Egyptian plan obtained by Sputnik envisions setting aside $53 billion to reconstruct the strip and forming a committee to manage it for six months in preparation for the return of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

As part of the Egyptian plan, an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in Cairo will be held later this month. At the same time, a trust fund will be set up to receive contributions from donor nations. The draft of the plan added that “implementing reconstruction requires arrangements for transitional governance and providing security in a way that preserves the prospects of a two-state solution.”

Poland Arrests Ukrainian Woman Convicted Of Selling 56 Human Kidneys — Reuters - [Wait … weren’t we told organ harvesting and trafficking in Ukraine was Russian Propaganda?]

Polish border guards detained a Ukrainian woman who was sentenced in Kazakhstan to 12 years in prison for participating in an organised criminal group trading in human organs and selling 56 kidneys, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old woman, referred to only as Ksenia P. under Polish privacy laws, was detained at a railway crossing between Poland and Ukraine under an Interpol red notice, Marta Petkowska, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office in Przemysl, said in a statement. The prosecutors didn't say why the woman wasn't in prison in Kazakhstan at the time she was detained at the crossing or when she was convicted.

She has been wanted by Interpol since November 2020, prosecutors said. An Interpol red notice is a request to global law enforcement to provisionally arrest a person pending extradition or similar legal action.

The woman was convicted for participation in an international organised criminal group that illegally collected tissues and organs from people from 2017 to 2019 and sold them on the black market, Petkowska added.

She was also convicted of illegally obtaining "kidneys from 56 injured parties in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand" for financial benefit and of "making the crimes committed a permanent source of income."

The Jerusalem Post reported in early August: “Russia Accuses Ukraine of Harvesting Organs from Civilians, Soldiers”

Russia has been making claim similar to this throughout the year. Earlier, there were claims of Ukraine organ harvesting from fallen Ukrainian soldiers, and covering up the evidence. Of course the Western media called this fake news.

Civilian Death Toll From Syrian Government Massacres Surge Past 1,300

Bodies are still being found across Syria’s coast, and the numbers are expected to continue rising

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on 12 March that the civilian death toll from the recent massacres committed by Damascus’s forces against Alawites on Syria’s coast has surged past 1,000.

“..The total number of victims rises to 1,383 civilians,” the war monitor said... Unofficial estimates from the past several days say the number of victims from the government’s massacres could be in the thousands...

Syria’s transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa – the former Al-Qaeda chief who was known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani... announced this week that his government will launch an investigation into the events that took place on the coast on 6 and 10 March.

...Heavy clashes erupted on Thursday last week after security forces entered two villages near the coastal city of Jableh and were ambushed by cells affiliated with Syria’s former military, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). The new government mobilized reinforcements to be deployed across the coastal regions of Latakia and Tartous, marking the start of the widescale operation.

This set off a large and seemingly organized attack by SAA cells and allied groups.

Members of different extremist factions that have been integrated into the HTS-led Ministry of Defense and armed forces went door to door, killing civilians, including women and children. Many of the massacres were documented on video by the militants themselves.

The majority of the victims were people of the Alawite minority – to which former president Bashar al-Assad belongs.

While a significant amount of perpetrators were foreign fighters, many others were Syrians. A local source speaking with The Cradle on Monday said it is “clear” that official Syrian security forces took part.

As a result of the massacres, thousands of Alawites have crossed the border into north Lebanon over the past several days after fleeing in fear for their lives.

Zelensky: Kiev Won’t Cede Territory, Wants ‘Strong’ US Response If Russia Rejects Ceasefire

President Volodymyr Zelensky explained his understanding of the ceasefire proposed by Ukrainian and American officials this week, saying his country would not make any territorial concessions. Additionally, Kiev expects “strong steps” from President Donald Trump should Moscow reject the plan.

Discussing the ceasefire proposal on Wednesday, Zelensky said, “We are fighting for our independence. Therefore, we will not recognize any occupied territories as Russia’s,” adding, “Our people have fought for this, our heroes died. How many injured, how many passed. No one will forget about it… This is the most important red line. We will not let anyone forget about this crime against Ukraine.”

Zelensky’s refusal to give up territory makes it unlikely the Kremlin will agree to the ceasefire, as Russian officials insist the five Ukrainian provinces annexed by Moscow will never be returned to Kiev. Additionally, Russia says it is seeking a permanent end to the conflict, not a short-term truce.

Even if the ceasefire had multiple points that crossed Russia’s red lines, Zelensky said he expects Trump to sanction Russia and send more arms to Ukraine. On Tuesday, he said, “I understand that we could count on strong steps. I don’t know the details yet, but we are talking about sanctions and about strengthening Ukraine.”

Trump has previously threatened severe sanctions and tariffs on Russia if Putin did not agree to a ceasefire. Zelensky repeated on Wednesday that he still expected Trump to take those steps if the proposal is rejected. “If [the Russians] are not ready [for a ceasefire], we do hope that the American side will demonstrate exactly what it said,” he stated.
