I think communist memes might represent a commodification of the movement, the loss of its soul, and its own defeat from within as communism becomes commonplace and harmless. If everyone makes jokes about the USSR being good, then nobody takes it to be a revolutionary statement. If everyone shouts "workers of the world unite" but doesn't do anything to make it happen then the phrase only loses meaning. If left wing phrases lose meaning, then left wing thought will follow, and the movement will collapse as it becomes simply another thing within capitalism.

Making yourself popular in this fashion doesn't necessarily kill any chance of it happening, there's many different methods within trying to make your stance popular within memes.
Also, a lot of people used the. communism memes ironically, thus making the movement more pointless.
