To distinguish how a subculture differs from other notions and formations (for instance, from a religious movement), the author devised ten parameters for studying subcultures:

📌 Announcement of International conference «Unknown Wars»

👉 The European Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is organizing an international interdisciplinary conference, «Unknown Wars», which will address the problems of global threats on an academic level

▪️ The events of recent years have demonstrated that major changes are happening with more frequency. We live in the context of global threats: hybrid wars, epidemics, pandemics, political and economic crises, and military conflicts. On the other hand, global threats set a whole chain of subsequent transformations in motion, and this process does not stop. All this demands entirely new approaches in business/security/production/science and other sectors that satisfy the parameters of our current times.

▪️ An individual who finds himself in the context of a global threat becomes a consequence of this «unknown war». In such circumstances, the «rules of the game» are unknown, there are no precise forecasts, and the main question becomes «what to do?»
❗️ However, to find the answer, it is critical to understand what we are in fact dealing with.

​​🔴 It was a pleasure to reconnect with my esteemed colleagues and dear friends at the "Local and Global Impacts of the War in Ukraine" conference, currently underway in Prague. This event is jointly organized by the Institute of Sociological Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, the Institute of Ethnology at the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the European Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Special thanks to Jerry Krase for chairing the conference!

📌 Here are some key points from my presentation:

▪️ The emergence of a new geopolitical threat due to the conflict in Ukraine, presents unprecedented challenges to the world. Initially, when the conflict began, there were attempts to categorize it in familiar terms, and its nature seemed somewhat clear. However, as the situation has evolves, it has become increasingly complex and defies straightforward classification. We don't know HOW to classify what is going on.

▪️ During my presentation, I shared insights from my ongoing research into war сriminality, a subject I began exploring many years ago with my work on “Coping as a Factor of Personal Security in the Modern Social Space,” using the Donbass conflict as a case study. This research delves into human behavior in extreme environments and has now expanded to a macro-level analysis.

▪️ In the near future, we plan to publish a series of articles detailing this research. These publications will provide a comprehensive overview of the monograph's contents, elaborate on our research methodology, and present our findings, and show the conclusions of the research, which could be very interesting to scholars worldwide.
