The Finnish Migration Service has sent to Russia a war criminal named Evgeny, who had previously illegally crossed the border.
Yle claims that the man in question is a former Wagner PMC mercenary who was detained in June in North Karelia after crossing the land border — Omsk native Zhaslan Mustakhanov, also known as Evgeny Shpartun and by the call sign “Canello.”
In February 2025, Mustakhanov recorded a video in which he criticized the Russian army command for its treatment of soldiers.
As Russian media previously reported, Mustakhanov had been convicted at least six times for theft and robbery before the start of the war in Ukraine.

Valery Khodemchuk was killed instantly when Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl NPP exploded early in the morning of April 26, 1986, becoming the first victim of the disaster. His widow, Natalia Khodemchuk, died 39 years later following a Russian attack on a residential neighborhood of Kyiv early in the morning of November 15. She passed away at a burn trauma center after suffering severe burns over much of her body.
