According to the Irrawaddy the Arakan Army has conducted a successful surprise offensive in the Kyaukphyu area

They have captured the last few outposts guarding the junta's Taung Maw Oo naval base

Around 500 soldiers are now isolated in the naval base and the Junta has already begun evacuating everyone of higher rank via their navy

If the base falls Kyaukphyu city's defenses will be significantly weakened

I have often yapped about the importance of Kyaukphyu both strategically and economically for both the Junta and also the Arakan Army if they were to capture it
