📆-Each year, there are approximately 85,000 new H1-b visa “slots” made available by USCIS

✍️-Each H1-b visa is good for 3 years, and a 3 year extension may be applied for (this does not count against the annual batch of new slots)

😮-The math works out to about 700-750k H1-b holders in country at any given time. With spouses and family members, the total population footprint is comfortably over 1 million

🇮🇳-India is the highest demographic for H1-b recipients, constituting 70%+ of the yearly cohort

😆-China is #2 with around 10%

💰 Assuming Trump’s plan reaches full maturity with no change in participation, its something like $70-75 billion in annual revenue generation

You’ll have to draw your own conclusions if this will make room for more American citizens in the job market, or if more regulation will be necessary to prevent the acceleration of offshoring / brain drain

2️⃣ Two things we should infer about this timely decision

💯 Indian negotiators will absolutely try to acquire visa fee exemptions as part of a trade pact

🤥 Brazilian government and President Lula is definitely lying when saying to their press that Trump administration “doesn’t want to talk” about trade

🙊 Trade is literally all they want to talk about. The vast majority of the tariff slinging was the viewed as the fastest way force a call to US negotiators
