🇵🇰 🇺🇸 ☄️ 🇦🇫A long-shot theory: the US and Pakistan will launch a joint operation against Afghanistan.

I based this on 2 things:

1/ Trump wants to take back the strategic Bagram Air Base currently in the Taliban's hands, and everyone smart enough would know it’s not something he can negotiate back with the Taliban.

2/ The Pakistan defense minister's declaration today when he clearly stated that Afghanistan was a hostile country.

As you know, the Taliban don’t recognize the current border with Pakistan, the one called the Durand Line, which is a result of British conquest during the Anglo-Afghan wars, and have been backing and sheltering the TTP terrorist group, which is active against Pakistan.

It’s in Pakistan’s interest to act and invade Afghanistan to reduce the threat in its mainland and create a buffer zone, and this would benefit the current US administration.

The US Army going back to Afghanistan would obviously be very unpopular; however, limited US involvement on the ground and in the air to secure the Bagram AB while the Paki secure the countryside would attract less heat from the US population.

Well, to be fair, Trump bombed Iran and nothing happened, so I don’t think the current US administration gives a fuck what the taxpayers are thinking.
