🇦🇲 #Armenia - 🇦🇿 #Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani "authorities" shot and arrested one of the last Armenians in Stepanakert, Karen Avanesyan, two days ago. Officials accused him of planning an attack, though witnesses describe him as a sick man who fed stray cats daily and was mocked for it.

Video footage shows him walking through the largely abandoned city, with no evidence of violent activity. Given Karen’s illness, he most likely did not serve in the military and would have no specific knowledge of firearms.

The incident comes amid reports that the roughly 15 physically or mentally disabled ethnic Armenians still in Stepanakert are under constant surveillance and harassment.

There are many reports that suggest that the Azerbaijani government's claims of a "terrorist act" are likely intended for domestic audiences, aimed at fueling hatred towards the remaining Armenians in the city.
