The case cites abuses including killings, sexual violence, and attacks on civilians in Chin State, under the principle of universal jurisdiction.
This marks the first action of its kind by an ASEAN member against another, amid Timor-Leste’s continued support for Myanmar’s pro-democracy groups despite the junta’s opposition.
