Face Masks and CO2 toxicity

Studies alleging that face masks increase the absorption of CO2 by 35-80 times are bad science. While mask wearing is harmful for a number of reasons, CO2 concentration under the mask being cited as one of those reasons is misleading. The mask only increases the dead volume of the respiratory system (Function Residual Capacity = 1800-2200ml) by a few percent (30-50ml), and the same CO2 concentration as measured under the mask is present in trachea and lungs at the end of each exhalation, with or without a mask. 'National soul' is a hypothetical, ethnically internalised sense of cognitive forms and proclivities, which allows for social harmonisation without thinking, without rational justification, but for the same reason it is an impediment to critical introspection and reflexive awareness, especially on inter-cultural level.
