🇫🇷 Macron’s France is losing legitimacy as it weaponizes criminal investigations to suppress free speech and privacy. The U.S. Department of Justice has refused to assist France in its investigation of Elon Musk, calling the case politically motivated.🎭 The French prosecutor’s office claims to be independent, but that is untrue: French prosecutors are hired, fired, and promoted by the government. The judicial police — who provide often misleading reports to investigative judges — are also controlled by the government.
I’m under a similar investigation in France: over a dozen charges, each carrying up to 10 years in prison. Proud to stand alongside Elon Musk and others targeted by Macron's campaign against digital rights. In Macron’s France, being investigated is the new Légion d’honneur.🎖

We had been disclosing ONLY the last IP/numbers before I was arrested, and we continued to disclose ONLY that afterward. What changed is that France began sending requests to Telegram in accordance with EU law → started receiving IPs → bragged that ‘there’s now cooperation.’

France's "Agency for Secure Documents" was hacked. Names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers of 19 million people — leaked from a single government database.
Future leaks will be even more catastrophic if the French government gets what it wants: access to encrypted chats and Digital IDs of social media users.

Telegram categorically denies Ofcom’s accusations. Since 2018, Telegram has virtually eliminated the public spread of CSAM on its platform through world-class detection algorithms and cooperation with NGOs.
We are surprised by this investigation and concerned that it may be part of a broader attack on online platforms that defend freedom of speech and the right to privacy.

On March 8, 2024, Emmanuel Macron designated me as his "worst memory as President of the Republic" following my investigation into the lies concerning his biography and the couple he forms with "Brigitte"; an investigation whose conclusions have never been subject to a defamation conviction, judicial prosecution, or even factual contestation in the journalistic field.
Yet, in Italy, the country where I am settled with my family, the authorities have received since that date no less than two international arrest warrants concerning me. The first was initiated following a "PHAROS" report – an Internet monitoring body attached to the Prime Minister's services – on the pretext of a "call to hatred based on religion" allegedly constituted by a radio broadcast in which I listed the owners of the main media in France.
The second was motivated by an investigation opened following a complaint by Brigitte Macron, which did not accuse me of defamation, but of being "the instigator of a worldwide campaign of humiliation through cyberbullying."
Since then, via their former Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti, until now known in France as the lawyer for pedophile networks, relayed by their obedient press, the Macrons defame me by accusing me of being "hiding in Italy."
No, I am not hiding in Italy. I live in Italy. But I do not set foot in France because, as the examples of @ElonMusk and @durov show, the Macrons' strategy consists of:
1- soliciting the magistrates they appoint to "open an investigation" with an infamous pretext (antisemitism, child pornography, etc.)
2- apprehending the targeted individual for a "simple free hearing"
3- then, on the pretext of a risk of flight, placing them under "judicial control," which amounts, at best, to house arrest in France for an indefinite period.
I take this opportunity to report that French opponents of Emmanuel Macron systematically see their bank accounts closed.
In general, it is the entire French people who have been taken hostage since the arrival of Emmanuel Macron.
May the treatment reserved for @durov and @ElonMusk draw attention to the abuses of power that the French suffer daily.
Be careful with banks in Italy — they can permanently freeze your account on a request from France, with no due process and no right to appeal.

British Regulator Ofcom Launches Investigation into Telegram
The British communications regulator Ofcom has launched an investigation into Telegram regarding its compliance with obligations to combat illegal content under the local Online Safety Act 2023.
According to Reuters, the investigation was prompted by data from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection regarding the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the platform, as well as the regulator's own assessment.
If violations are found, platforms could face fines of up to £18 million or 10% of their global turnover.
Telegram's Position
• The messenger "categorically" denies Ofcom's accusations.
• The company claims that since 2018, the public distribution of CSAM on the platform has been "virtually eliminated" thanks to the work of automatic detection algorithms.
• Telegram stated they are surprised by the investigation and concerned that it might be "part of a broader attack on online platforms that defend freedom of speech and the right to privacy".
• A day earlier, Pavel Durov noted that "protecting children" has become a standard PR move for lawmakers to gain control over media narratives.
Context
This is not Telegram's first clash with regulators over CSAM. In February 2025, the Australian regulator eSafety fined the messenger $600,000 for delaying a response to a similar request. In response, the company abandoned its usual passive stance, moved to active legal defense, and sued Australia, challenging the legality of the fine.
At the end of 2024, Telegram officially agreed to cooperate with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) — one of the key organizations maintaining CSAM signature databases. Our team has also extensively analyzed Telegram's internal moderation processes based on reports for eSafety: the disclosed documents reveal that photos and videos in all private groups and channels on the platform are automatically scanned against known illegal materials.
Recently, the UK has been consistently ramping up pressure on social media. Earlier this year, to comply with local legislation, Telegram already had to launch an experimental facial age verification system for British users.
It is worth noting that in recent years, under the banner of child protection, European countries have been increasingly pushing requirements that could violate privacy of communications and live. For example, due to requirements from this same Ofcom, Apple was forced to disable E2E encryption for iCloud backups, and the European Union is developing the EU Chat Control law, which is similar to the British OSA in its invasiveness.

It was previously stated that Telega is the cause of "bricking" iPhones. However, the fault lies not with the application itself, but with the fact that the application has been stripped of its security certification, which is why a window pops up stating «this application contains malicious code, delete it». When updating iOS to any version, all applications continue to run, but within a sandbox, thus making interference with system code impossible. But the crux of the matter is that no iOS wants to update if any software with revoked certificates is present, so one must download the firmware from iTunes with the risk of losing data and content (Russian guide).
We believe that Apple is obliged to provide specific technical complaints and a deadline for their resolution when suspicions arise. If Apple believes we are violating something, we have the right to know exactly what and must have the opportunity to make the necessary changes. We could clarify our position, but they simply do not give us any specifics. This is arbitrariness on the part of a platform monopolist.
