💢British mercenary says he was ‘duped’ into Ukraine conflict by Western media.

A UK national captured in Donbass says he has been abandoned by both Kiev and London.

Aiden Aslin said the Western media had played a major role in convincing him to support the Ukrainian cause and eventually made him a “pawn” in a political game.

He was speaking to RT in an interview before a court in Donetsk sentenced him and two other foreigners to death on charges of acting as mercenaries and seeking to seize power by force in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

Aslin said he had followed the Ukrainian conflict since 2014 and was “originally pro-Russian” and “pro-Donbass.” He supported Crimea’s reunification with Russia and believes the people of Donbass have a right to independence.

“My views started to change after I started seeing media reports and stuff that was basically saying that it was not locals but the Russian soldiers that were doing everything [in Donbass],” Aslin admitted, adding that he was watching CNN.

"There is an artillery war going on in the Donbass and Ukraine is losing in such a confrontation with Russia," - said the deputy head of military intelligence of Ukraine Vadim Skibitsky.

Ukraine has one artillery piece for 10-15 Russian artillery pieces. According to him, Ukraine uses 5000/6000(!) artillery shells a day.

"We have almost used up all our ammunition and are now using standard NATO 155 caliber shells"

Do you understand what's going on? They are real! they believe that a citizen with a British passport (as well as with an American one), even if he commits murders, should simply be allowed to go home.

Pool time fun in Ukraine. And get drafted.

In the Transcarpathian region, the Ukrainian military go to recreation centers every day and, right in the pool, issue summons to the military registration and enlistment office for vacationers.

There are no problems in the Ukrainian army at all.

💢 Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised Greece a "tragic end" on twitter if it continues to arm the islands in the Aegean Sea. Moreover, he promised convincingly, in three languages at once: Turkish, English and even Greek.

A couple of hours before all this was published, the Turkish president was present at the largest military exercise in Turkey, which took place near Izmir - just a few miles from the Greek islands.

“We once again warn Greece to avoid fantasies, statements and actions that she will have to regret, as she already did a hundred years ago, and we advise you to come to your senses.”

He obviously means the defeat of Hellas in the Second Greco-Turkish War in 1922 and hints at the possibility of using force. And something tells me that this time he's not bluffing.

💢Germany should brace for a difficult autumn and winter due to skyrocketing prices, as the country pushes for independence from Russian energy, German Vice Chancellor and head of the Ministry of Economy Robert Habeck said on Friday in Berlin.

“As for the support of the people who need it, I clearly indicated what is ahead of us and what is already partially a reality... we are facing a very difficult autumn and a very tough winter,” he said, as cited by RIA Novosti.

Habeck made the prediction as he presented a new energy saving initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Berlin is planning to replace Russian coal and oil by the end of the year and stop importing Russian gas by 2024, and is struggling to find alternative energy sources. According to the vice chancellor, energy prices are already extremely high and “many people will get significantly higher bills than usual” in the upcoming heating season. For this reason alone, saving energy is urgently needed, and I know that many are already looking at where they can save something, especially when they have to watch every cent anyway,” he said.

The new initiative – ‘80 million together for energy change’ – aims to motivate people to save energy. It provides examples on its website from everyday life and recommendations for saving energy, including: regularly defrosting the freezer, raising the refrigerator temperature to 7C, using LED light bulbs in offices, ways to cut down on water consumption and heating in the bathroom and kitchen, etc.“Whoever saves energy helps Germany become more independent from Russian imports and also does it for the sake of the climate,” Habeck said.

The tumultuous situation with energy prices around the world has hit Germany hard. The availability of Russian energy carriers on the global market was put into jeopardy following the launch of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine and the retaliatory sanctions from the West.

Energy prices propelled annual inflation in Europe’s largest economy to 7.9% in May, its highest level in nearly 50 years. Energy prices in the country rose 38.3% year-on-year last month, while food prices posted an 11.1% leap, data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) shows. As a result, nearly half of German citizens have been forced to change their lifestyle and cut back on spending, media reports, citing polls. According to a study conducted for Bild newspaper by INSA this week, every sixth German citizen does not eat regularly due to the rise in prices, and another 13% are considering the possibility of saving on food. - RT

💢 Reuters ignores swastika tattoo of Ukrainian ‘local’ on its own photo used in story vilifying Russia -

Russian diplomats called out the news agency Reuters on Friday for not noticing that a Ukrainian man they identified only as a “local resident” in the city of Kharkov had an elaborate Nazi tattoo on his arm.

“We’ve fixed your oopsie, Reuters,” the Russian arms control mission in Vienna tweeted on Friday, putting a red circle around the man’s tattoo and posting an enlarged image alongside, showing it more clearly.

“In case you forgot, a Nazi is a Nazi is a Nazi,” the mission added.

The diplomats called the photo “another propaganda stunt to slander Russia.” Reuters had captioned the photo as the aftermath of an alleged Russian strike on a residential area of Kharkov. Moscow has consistently denied attacking civilian infrastructure, insisting it only targets military objects.
