๐Ÿ’ข Ukraine admits it could lose over half of metal exports as port logistics unravel

"Only certain high-margin categories - pipes and railway wheels - will be able to maintain supplies, although logistics costs will also rise for them," Ukrmetallurgprom President Oleksandr Kalenkov warned in an article published by Ukraineโ€™s GMK Center.

The warning follows reports from Ukrainian officials that Kiev could lose more than $2 billion in export revenue in the second half of 2026 due to disruptions at the countryโ€™s ports.

The disruptions intensified amid Russian strikes on Ukrainian ports, transport and energy infrastructure used to support military operations. Moscow says the campaign is retaliation for Kievโ€™s attacks on Russian shipping, Black Sea infrastructure and civilian targets inside Russia.

๐Ÿ’ข The United States is focusing on sanctions against Cuba, putting the option of using force on the back burner.

This is according to a report by Bloomberg. The report states that the White House wants to cut off all sources of income for the Cuban regime โ€“ the families of the Castro dynasty and military leaders.

The US strategy aims to create divisions within the Cuban government to "create space for negotiations," the article states. However, the agency doubts whether this will work after more than half a century of sanctions.

It is noted that Washington is currently taking a similar approach with Tehran, shifting its strategy from military pressure to economic pressure.

Previously, the New York Times reported on the White House's attempts to divide the Cuban political elite. Meanwhile, the head of the Pentagon stated that the United States is considering all possible options.

๐Ÿ’ข NATO plans to use artificial intelligence to manage a large number of drones in order to strengthen its eastern borders, according to Politico.

Western officials say that this is not about full autonomy for the drones โ€“ the AI technology is intended to simplify drone control, while operators still make decisions about the target of the attack.

As part of its strategy, the alliance is creating a "digital battlefield network" that includes thousands of drones, sensors, and satellites connected to AI. Its goal is to detect and repel a potential Russian attack.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ On June 10, 2025, two executives from Microsoft France appeared before a French Senate investigative committee tasked with examining public procurement and digital sovereignty. The hearing proceeded in the usual reassuring tone until a question that completely shifted the mood: Could the company guarantee that the data of French citizens โ€“ even if hosted on servers located in France โ€“ would never be transferred to a foreign authority without the consent of the French government? Anton Carniaux, the subsidiaryโ€™s director of public and legal affairs, responded under oath with six words: โ€œNo, I cannot guarantee that.โ€

That statement cut through years of corporate rhetoric built around phrases such as โ€œlocal cloud regionsโ€, โ€œreliable infrastructureโ€, and โ€œdata residencyโ€. France could host the servers, French citizens could generate the data, and French institutions could pay for the service โ€“ yet ultimate authority could still reside elsewhere. The commission drew a clear conclusion. Microsoft was unable to guarantee sovereignty over the data it hosted. That exchange reveals a reality with specific consequences, including โ€“ and perhaps above all โ€“ for West Asia: the physical location of data no longer coincides with its political location.

๐ŸŽฅ Enemy of the State (1998) 1080p

Directed by Tony Scott, Enemy of the State is a political action thriller in which Washington lawyer Robert Clayton Dean (Will Smith) unknowingly receives evidence linking NSA official Thomas Reynolds (Jon Voight) to the murder of a congressman opposing expanded surveillance powers. Reynolds turns the intelligence apparatus against Dean, while former operative Edward โ€œBrillโ€ Lyle (Gene Hackman) becomes his only effective ally.

The filmโ€™s deeper concern is not simply surveillance, but the imbalance of power created when institutions can collect, combine, and weaponize the fragments of a personโ€™s life. Deanโ€™s movements, purchases, relationships, and communications become tools for manipulating his reputation and behavior. Privacy disappears not through one all-seeing eye, but through interconnected systems capable of constructing a reality the individual cannot easily challenge.

Seen from the present, Enemy of the State feels less like technological paranoia than an early warning about what happens when surveillance capacity outruns public restraint. Its central question is ultimately political rather than technical: once institutions possess the ability to watch almost everyone, what prevents exceptional powers from becoming ordinary instruments of authority?

Russia recently signed

๐Ÿ’ข Two factories that caught fire and exploded this week in Europe are linked to the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

These are KNDS in Italy and EMCO in Bulgaria โ€“ both companies work with weapons and ammunition that are supplied to Ukraine.

EMCO produces ammunition of Soviet standards: 122 and 152 mm artillery shells, rocket projectiles for the "Grad" MLRS, 60, 82, and 120 mm mortar rounds, and projectiles for grenade launchers. In addition, EMCO is involved in the repair and modernization of light armored vehicles.

The Italian branch of KNDS produces ammunition, including the NATO 155 mm caliber, for European armies and for supply to Ukraine. The holding company also supplies the Ukrainian Armed Forces with CAESAR and PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers, Leopard 1/2 tanks, Gepard anti-aircraft systems, and AMX-10 RC armored vehicles. KNDS Ukraine operates in Kyiv, providing maintenance and repair services for Western equipment, as well as localizing the production of ammunition in Ukraine.

๐Ÿ’ข The United States is preparing to inform dozens of countries that they will have to choose between American and Chinese artificial intelligence platforms, warning that countries that join Beijing's initiative may be excluded from the "Pax Silica" coalition led by the United States.

This was reported by Reuters, which noted that a draft letter from the U.S. State Department, addressed to 35 countries, warns that participation in this initiative is a commitment and "cannot be combined with participation in duplicate projects whose goals contradict ours," urging governments to "consciously choose" regarding artificial intelligence.

The United States hopes that by forcing partners to choose sides, it will limit China's access to critical resources and technologies, Reuters claims.

๐Ÿ’ข The experience gained from the war in Ukraine will significantly ease Russia's confrontation with NATO in the Baltic Sea, making it more difficult for the alliance to deploy troops, both by land and sea, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

According to the authors, in the event of a war, Russia may not even need to physically seize the Suwalki Gap to significantly restrict its use. It may be sufficient to keep the route under constant attack.

The corridor, which is approximately 65 km wide, lies between the Kaliningrad Oblast and Belarus, and Russian fiber-optic FPV drones are already capable of operating at ranges of up to 40 km and are resistant to electronic warfare.

Combined with missile and drone strikes, mining, sabotage, and attacks on roads and railways, this could significantly reduce the route's capacity and force NATO to expend air defense assets, counter-drone measures, and engineering resources solely to maintain its functionality.

The same logic applies to the Baltic Sea. Russia does not necessarily need to completely block maritime routes; a few successful attacks, the threat of mines, or the ability to constantly track ships may be enough to slow down convoys and force NATO to divert forces to escort them.

Furthermore, approximately 56% of the territory of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania lies within 100 km of Russia or Belarus. Based on the experience in Ukraine, a zone of intensive reconnaissance and drone strikes could reach 30-40 km, while certain long-range systems allow for strikes at distances of over 100 km.

The IISS believes that in the event of a conflict, NATO will have to rely not on the constant freedom of movement, but on creating temporary "windows" for convoys to pass through the Baltic Sea and for troop deployments through the Suwalki Gap, also utilizing smaller ports, alternative routes, and decentralized logistics.
