Allah is not known by one who does not show loyalty to Ali ibn Abi Talib and disassociate from his enemies - Part IV

A number of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Saghir, from one who narrated to him, from Rib‘i ibn ‘Abdillah, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), that he said:

Allah has refused to make things occur except through causes. So He made for everything a cause, and He made for every cause an explanation, and He made for every explanation a knowledge, and He made for every knowledge a speaking gate. Whoever knows it, knows it; and whoever is ignorant of it, is ignorant of it. That is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and we are [that gate].”

The Status of Salman al-Muhammadi (may Allah be pleased with him) with Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them)

From Mansur Bazurj, he said: I said to Abu Abdullah al-Sadiq (peace be upon him):

“How often I hear you, my master, mention Salman al-Farsi.”

He said: “Do not say al-Farsi, but say Salman al-Mohammadi. Do you know why I mention him so much?”

I said: “No.”

He said: “For three qualities, the first of them is preferring the desire of Amir al-Mumineen (peace be upon him) over the desire of his own self, the second is his love for the poor and choosing them over the people of wealth and numbers, and the third is his love for knowledge and the scholars. Indeed Salman was a righteous servant, upright, a Muslim, and he was not from the polytheists.”

📖
Practical Connection with Imam al-Mahdi, p.74-75

And among the most famous reports that came about him is from the Greatest Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said: "Salman is from us, Ahlul Bayt."

Allah is not known by one who does not show loyalty to Ali ibn Abi Talib and disassociate from his enemies - Part VIII

Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad from Mu‘alla ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Urama and Muhammad ibn Abdullah from Ali ibn Hassan from Abdul Rahman ibn Kathir from Abu Abd Allah (peace be upon him), who said: Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said:

Abu Abd Allah al-Jadali entered upon the Commander of the Faithful, and he (peace be upon him) said: “O Abu Abd Allah, shall I inform you of the saying of Allah Almighty: {Whoever comes with a good deed will have better than it, and they will be secure from the terror of that Day ۝ And whoever comes with an evil deed, their faces will be thrown into the Fire. Will you be recompensed except for what you used to do}”

He said: “Yes, O Commander of the Faithful, may I be your ransom.”

So he said: “The good deed is the recognition of wilayah and love for us, the People of the Household [Ahlul Bayt]. And the evil deed is the denial of wilayah and hatred for us, the People of the Household.” Then he recited this verse to him.

دَخَلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله الْجَدَلِيُّ عَلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام): يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الله أَلا أُخْبِرُكَ بِقَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {مَنْ جاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْها وَهُمْ مِنْ فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ آمِنُونَ ۝ وَمَنْ جاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلا ما كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ}

The Importance of Saying the Basmala Before Any Action or Recitation What has been reported regarding the interpretation of Surat al-Hamd — His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} — It is narrated from Imam…
The Advice of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) on Refining the Soul and Dealing with People

What has been reported regarding the interpretation of Surat al-Hamd

— His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} —

It is narrated from Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him): Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (peace be upon him) said: Muhammad ibn [Ali ibn] Muslim ibn Shihab al-Zuhri entered upon Ali ibn al-Husayn [Zayn al-Abidin] (peace be upon him) while he was sorrowful and grieving, so Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) said to him: "What is the matter with you? Why are you troubled and distressed?"

He said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, worries and griefs continue to befall me because of the trials I have faced from those who envy my blessings, those who covet what I possess, those from whom I hope for good, and those to whom I have shown kindness, yet they disappoint my expectations."

So Ali ibn al-Husayn [Zayn al-Abidin] (peace be upon him) said to him: "Guard your tongue, and through it you will retain your brothers."

Al-Zuhri said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, I treat them well through what comes forth from my speech."

Ali ibn al-Husayn (peace be upon him) said: "Far from it, far from it! Beware of being impressed with yourself because of that, and beware of speaking words that hearts immediately reject, even if you have an excuse for them. Not everyone who hears something objectionable is able to find a broad excuse for it."

Then he said: "O Zuhri, whoever's intellect is not among the most complete things within him, his destruction will come through the easiest thing within him."

Then he said: "O Zuhri, what would it cost you to treat the Muslims as your family, making their elders like your father, their young like your children, and those of your own age like your brother? Which of these would you want to wrong? Which of these would you want to curse? Which of these would you want to expose?! If Satan, may Allah curse him, suggests to you that you have superiority over someone among the people of the qiblah, then consider: if he is older than you, say: 'He preceded me in faith and righteous deeds, so he is better than me.' If he is younger than you, say: 'I preceded him in sins and disobedience, so he is better than me.' And if he is your contemporary, say: 'I am certain of my own sin and uncertain about his condition, so why should I abandon my certainty for my doubt?'

And if you see the Muslims honoring you, esteeming you, and venerating you, say: "This is a favor they have newly bestowed."

And if you see from them (coldness and withdrawal from you, say: "This is what I have brought about."

For if you do this, Allah will make your life easy for you, increase your friends, decrease your enemies, make you happy with the kindness they show you, and you will not grieve over the coldness they show you.

And know that the most honorable of people in the eyes of others is the one whose goodness toward them overflows and who is independent of them, refraining from asking them for anything. After him, the most honorable of people in their eyes is the one who refrains from asking them for anything, even if he needs them. The people of this world are enamored with wealth, so whoever does not compete with them for what they love becomes honorable in their eyes, and whoever does not compete with them for it and allows them to retain it, or some of it, becomes more beloved [to them] and more honorable.

Some Supplications of Imam Abu Ja'far the Second (peace be upon him) - continued

6 - A Supplication for Fulfilling a Need:

"The best One whom You have commanded to supplicate is the One whom they supplicate to, and the best One whom You have promised to answer is the One in whom they place their hope. O Allah, I have a need for which my means have failed, my strength has grown weary, and my ability to attain it has become weak. My soul, which commands evil, and my deceiving enemy, through whom I am being tested, tempted me to seek it from one as weak as myself and from one who is like me in weakness and failure.

Then Your mercy came to my aid, Your compassion hastened to grant me success, Your generosity restored my reason to me, and Your grace inspired me toward what is right. You revived my heart with hope in You, removed my enemy's deception from my mind, corrected my thoughts through hope in You, and expanded my heart through hope in Your assistance. You showed me the success of attaining what I hoped for and reaching what I desired.

So I stand before You, O Allah, my Lord, asking You, humbly pleading to You, trusting in You, and relying upon You for the fulfillment of my need, the realization of my wish, and the granting of my request.

So, O Allah, fulfill my need with the most blessed success, guide it upon the path of prosperity, and protect me, O Allah, my Lord, through Your generosity from disappointment, despair, delay, and discouragement. Grant me Your pleasant answer and Your abundant gift.

Indeed, You are the One who fulfills my needs, generous in granting abundant gifts to Your servants. You are Powerful over all things, encompassing all things, and fully aware and All-Seeing of Your servants."

Obeying the Imam is Obeying Allah

Ali ibn Ibrahim from his father from Hammad ibn Isa from Hariz from Zurarah from Abu Ja'far (peace be upon him), who said:

"The highest point of the matter, its summit, its key, the gate of all things, and the pleasure of the Most Merciful, Blessed and Exalted, is obedience to the Imam after recognizing him,"

Then he said: "Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, says: {Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah, and whoever turns away, then We have not sent you as a guardian over them}."

The Advice of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) on Refining the Soul and Dealing with People What has been reported regarding the interpretation of Surat al-Hamd — His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful}…
The Basmala is a Means for the Fulfillment of Needs in Times of Hardship

— His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} —

From Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him):

He (peace be upon him) said: Then a man stood up before him and said: "O son of the Messenger of Allah, tell me the meaning of {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful}?"

So Ali ibn al-Husayn (peace be upon them both) said: "My father narrated to me, from his brother, from the Commander of the Faithful, that a man stood up before him and said: O Commander of the Faithful, tell me about {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful}, what is its meaning?"

So he said: "Indeed your saying «Allah» is the greatest of the Names among the Names of Allah, the Exalted, and it is the Name by which none other than Allah should be named, and no creature has ever been named by it."

The man said: "Then what is the exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: «Allah»?"

So he said: "He is the One to whom every creature turns in worship at times of need and hardship, when hope is cut off from all besides Him, and the means are severed from everyone other than Him. This is because every one who holds authority in this world or exalts himself in it, however great his self-sufficiency and his tyranny, and however many the needs of those beneath him directed toward him, they will still have needs which this self-exalted one is unable to fulfill.

And likewise, this self-exalted one has needs he cannot fulfill, so he turns wholly to Allah at his time of necessity and want, until, when his concern is relieved, he returns to his associating [others with Allah].

Do you not hear Allah, Mighty and Majestic, saying: {Say, "Do you see, if the punishment of Allah should come to you, or the Hour should come to you, is it other than Allah you would call upon, if you should be truthful?" ۝ No, it is Him alone you would call upon, and He would remove that for which you called upon Him if He willed, and you would forget what you associate [with Him]}

So Allah, the Exalted, said to His servants: O you who are poor and in need of My mercy, I have made the need for Me binding upon you in every state, and the abasement of servitude binding upon you at every time. So to Me turn in alarm in every matter you undertake and whose completion and attainment of its goal you hope for. For if I wish to give to you, none other than I can prevent you, and if I wish to withhold from you, none other than I can give to you, [for I am more deserving to be asked and more worthy of being supplicated to]. So say, at the opening of every matter, great or small: (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful), meaning: I seek help in this matter through Allah, to whom worship is not rightfully due except Him, the Reliever when relief is sought, [and] the Answerer when He is called upon; «the Most Gracious», He who shows mercy by extending sustenance upon us; «the Most Merciful», merciful to us in our religion, our worldly life, and our hereafter; Allah has lightened for us the religion and made it easy and light, and He has mercy upon us by distinguishing us from His enemies."

Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Whoever is grieved by a matter he undertakes and says {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful}, being sincere to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and turning to Him with his heart, will not fail to attain one of two things: either the fulfillment of his worldly need, or its equivalent with Him, stored up for him, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for the believers."

Obeying the Imam is Obeying Allah - Part II

Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr from Sayf ibn Amirah from Abu al-Sabbah al-Kinani, who said: Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him) said:

"We are a people whose obedience Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has made obligatory. The anfal belong to us, and the choicest wealth belongs to us. We are those firmly grounded in knowledge, and we are the ones envied, about whom Allah said: {Or do they envy the people for what Allah has given them of His bounty?}"

Some Supplications of Imam Abu Ja'far the Second (peace be upon him) - continued

7 - A Supplication for Seeking Sustenance and Abundance:

O Allah, send down upon me Your abundant and continuous provision, shower upon me the plentiful clouds of Your bounty, let the rain of Your gifts pour upon me without interruption, and let the increase of Your blessings descend generously upon my need. Make me dependent upon You through Your generosity, enrich me from needing anyone who seeks what is with You, cure the illness of my poverty with the remedy of Your grace, revive the collapse of my hardship through Your favor, and mend the brokenness of my need through Your gifts.

Bestow upon my little with the abundance of Your giving, and upon my deficiency with the generosity of Your bestowal. Make the path of provision easy for me, establish its foundations firmly with me, uncover for me the springs of the vastness of Your mercy, and cause the rivers of a comfortable life to flow before me through Your compassion. Make the land of my poverty barren, make the drought of my hardship fertile, remove from my provision every obstacle, and cut away from me every attachment to constriction.

O Allah, strike me with the most fruitful arrows of abundant provision, clothe me with the longest-lasting comfort of an easy life, dress me in the garments of abundance and the robes of tranquility. Indeed, O my Lord, I await Your blessings through the removal of hardship, Your generosity through the cutting away of impediments, Your grace through the lifting of restriction, and the joining of my rope to Your generosity through ease.
O Allah, rain upon me the sky of Your provision with continuous showers, enrich me from Your creation through the recurring gifts of Your blessings, cast away from me the causes of poverty, hasten the removal of hardship from me, strike down constriction from me with the sword of complete eradication, honor me, O my Lord, with the vastness of Your bounty, increase my wealth, protect me from the hardship of insufficiency, withhold from me the evil of drought, and spread before me the carpet of prosperity.

Give me plentiful drink from the water of Your provision, open for me the broad paths leading to it, surprise me with wealth and prosperity, revive me through it after poverty, greet my mornings with abundance, let me attain enduring prosperity, for You are the Possessor of immense favor, boundless bounty, and magnificent generosity, and You are the Most Generous, the Most Noble.

He said: He replied: "Yes. They are those about whom Allah, the Exalted, said: {Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those vested with authority among you.}, and they are those about whom Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: {Your guardian is only Allah, His Messenger, and those who believe.}".

The Basmala is a Means for the Fulfillment of Needs in Times of Hardship — His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} — From Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: Then a man…
The Virtue of the Opening of the Book (the Basmala)

— His statement, the Exalted: {In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} —

From Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him):

Al-Hasan ibn Ali (peace be upon him) said: The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, {In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful} is a verse from the Opening of the Book, and it consists of seven verses, its completion being {In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful}.

[He] said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) say:

Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said to me: O Muhammad, {And We have certainly given you seven of the oft-repeated verses and the Great Quran} so He singled out the Opening of the Book for His special favor [upon me], and placed it alongside the Great Quran. Indeed, the Opening of the Book is the most noble thing among the treasures of the Throne.

Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, singled it out for Muhammad and honored him [with it], and He did not share it with any of His prophets, except Sulayman (peace be upon him), for He gave him from it {In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful}. Do you not see how He relates regarding Bilqis when she said: {Indeed, a noble letter has been delivered to me. ۝ Indeed, it is from Sulayman, and indeed, it is: In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful}?

Know that whoever recites it while believing in devotion to Muhammad and his pure family, submitting to their command, and believing in their outward and inward realities, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will grant him a good deed for every letter of it. Each good deed will be better for him than the world and everything it contains of its various kinds of wealth and blessings. And whoever listens to a reciter reciting it will have a share equal to one third of what the reciter receives. So let each of you increase in this good that has been presented to you, for it is a gain whose opportunity will not return, lest regret remain in your hearts.

Obeying the Imam is Obeying Allah - Part V

Ali ibn Ibrahim narrated from Salih ibn al-Sindi, from Ja'far ibn Bashir, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Abd Allah (peace be upon him), who said: I heard him say:

"We are those whose obedience Allah has made obligatory. People have no choice but to know us, and people are not excused for ignorance of us. Whoever knows us is a believer; whoever denies us is a disbeliever; and whoever neither knows us nor denies us is astray until he returns to the guidance that Allah has made obligatory upon him through obedience to us, which is mandatory. If he dies upon his misguidance, Allah will do with him whatever He wills."

Obeying the Imam is Obeying Allah - Part VI

Ali narrated from Muhammad ibn Isa, from Yunus, from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl, who said:

"I asked him about the best thing by which servants draw near to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

He said: 'The best thing by which servants draw near to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is obedience to Allah, obedience to His Messenger, and obedience to those vested with authority.'"

Abu Ja'far (peace be upon him) said: "Loving us is faith, and hating us is disbelief [kufr]."

What Has Been Mentioned Regarding the Jurist [Faqih] and His Qualities

It is narrated from Abu Abd Allah al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) that he said:

"The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of who is truly a jurist? He is one who does not make people despair of the mercy of Allah, does not make them feel secure from the punishment of Allah, does not permit them to commit disobedience to Allah, and does not abandon the Quran out of preference for something else. Indeed, there is no good in knowledge without understanding, there is no good in recitation without contemplation, and there is no good in worship without reflection."

The Greatest Messenger (peace be upon him and his family) said:

"[As for] he who seeks knowledge for this world, for status amongst people, and for a favoured position with the ruler, every bit he learns only increases his arrogance within himself, his presumptuousness with people, his self-delusion about God, and his estrangement from religion. Such a one benefits nothing from his knowledge."

Jum'a mubarakeh and may Allah accept your prayers.

We ask Allah the Exalted to accept from us our righteous deeds and to make us from the supporters of al-Qa’im. May Allah have mercy on the souls of the martyrs and the believing men and believing women by the recitation of al-Fatiha, and supplication for all the sick and wounded and the distressed, and the relief of those in sorrow. And do not forget us from your sincere prayers, perhaps you are closer to Allah in rank, with the blessings upon Mohammad and the family of Mohammad.
