A British surgeon is taking the National Health Service (NHS) and the UK government to court, arguing that the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism has been used to restrict political speech and silence pro-Palestine expression.
Ranjeet Brar was suspended from his role at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust following a speech he gave on 6 April 2026 outside the US embassy in London commemorating the victims of a reported US-Israeli attack on a school in the Iranian city of Minab.

❗️PGSA says over 200 foreign vessels sought Hormuz permits before latest US attacks

More than 200 non-Iranian vessels applied for passage permits and insurance coverage from Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) in the three weeks between the signing of the MoU between Iran and the US and the latest US attacks on Iran, the authority announced on 14 July.

The PGSA said 79 percent of requests were approved with insurance issued, while 14 percent remained under review, with permits taking an average of 50 hours to process.

Tankers made up the largest share of applicants at 41 percent, followed by bulk carriers at 27 percent and container ships at 18 percent.

Applications were split almost evenly between vessels leaving the Persian Gulf, at 53 percent, and those entering, at 47 percent.

Of the outbound requests, 21 percent were bound for China, 20 percent for India, and 29 percent for other Asian destinations.

The figures cover crossings approved by Iran, not transits through the southern Omani route, where US forces have escorted vessels.

💢 CNN: The United States may face a serious shortage of key precision munitions as the conflict with Iran continues to deplete military stockpiles.

Retired Marine Corps Colonel and CSIS analyst Mark Cancian estimates that the U.S. has used between one-third and one-half of its stockpiles of key munitions, including over 1,000 Patriot missile defense system guided missiles. Only about 600 of these missiles are produced annually, and new orders face delays of four to five years.

JPMorgan Chase has begun expanding its corporate banking operations across Europe, West Asia, and Africa as the US banking giant aims to increase revenue and capture a larger share of the market from regional and local competitors, James Roddy, the bank’s global head of corporate banking, told Reuters.

The firm plans to recruit 30 senior bankers in the region by the end of the year to support its broader effort to provide $1.5 trillion in financing for sectors considered vital to national security, including up to $10 billion from JPMorgan’s own funds, Roddy said.

"Everything is on the table for entering new markets or adding resources where we are already present. We have the full support of the board to hire if it will help us better serve a client," Roddy said.
