Something to consider about the new 87,000 IRS agents: the IRS is going to have a very hard time recruiting that many people. The type of finance/accounting professionals that the government needs are already being recruited by the large finance and accounting firms. These firms are already having immense difficulty filling these jobs. Given the dearth of available candidates and the highly competitive employment market for these individuals, the IRS will have to either out-pay the big private firms or lower their standards. Given how the government works, they will opt for the latter.
This doesnt mean that we can just write the IRS off as an incompetent or blundering organization. Nevertheless, this expansion will come at the cost of quality per agent.

Some more mainstream Republicans are calling for the abolition of the FBI. This is all very well and good. But if the current power structure throws us this bone, they will replace it with something gayer and niggier. We should be very careful not to take the abolition of the FBI as a complete victory.
