The Union Government's decision to revise the Base Year for calculating Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Consumer Price Index (CPI), and Index of Industrial Production (IIP) follows due consultations with experts from various fields and departments, including academia, Central and State governments and the Reserve Bank of India amongst others.
