🇸🇾 Syria declares ceasefire, sets deadline for SDF militants to leave Aleppo neighborhoods

The Syrian Defense Ministry announced a ceasefire from 3 a.m. in the Aleppo neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh and Bani Zaid, giving armed fighters until 9 a.m. to withdraw.

According to the statement, the Syrian Army will guarantee the safety and secure passage of the militants as they leave the city, allowing them to carry only light personal weapons, and escorting them toward the northeast. Internal security forces are coordinating the evacuation, with Damascus saying the goal is to end the military presence in these districts.

The Syrian government also commented on the broader situation, stressing that Kurds are an integral part of Syria and “full partners in the nation,” while blaming the escalation on Syrian Democratic Forces for violating the April 1 agreement. Damascus said restoring order requires state institutions—not media wars—and reiterated its demand that militias leave Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh to prevent further escalation and protect civilians.
