IDF ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ:

"The IDF attacked several fuel depots used by the military forces of the Iranian terrorist regime in Tehran

The Air Force, with precise guidance from Military Intelligence and in cooperation with the Operations Directorate, attacked several fuel storage depots in Tehran a short while ago.

The military forces of the Iranian terrorist regime use the fuel tanks directly and frequently to operate military infrastructures, and with their help, the Iranian terrorist regime transfers fuel to various consumers, including military bodies in Iran.

This is a significant attack that constitutes another layer in deepening the damage to the military infrastructures of the Iranian terrorist regime. The IDF will continue to operate with intensity in order to extensively harm the regime and remove threats to the State of Israel."

The series of drone strikes against the city of Slemani in the autonomous region of Kurdistan illustrate the problem we are facing:

We do not have the means to effectively defend ourselves against the threat of fast moving and mobile suicide-drones.
The footage shows the interception of drones by gun and machine gun fire - essentially covering the direction from which the drones are coming from with bullets in hopes of landing a hit on an incoming drone.

This is obviously not an effective doctrine and barely offers any chance of success.
In this case here, the well equipped base of the 70s Peshmerga of the PUK was able to achieve limited success solely because of the base being well equipped enough to be able to handle extended periods of fire; also because every available gun was able to be used for that role due to the presence of large numbers of Peshmerga.
This strategy absolutely offers no potential success in any scenario where a well manned and equipped base does not exist and where drones do not approach from the right direction.

But it goes deeper than that - we did not even develop a military doctrine to combat drones.
Itโ€™s an institutional problem - by all means, it is not an easy task but it is definitely feasible.
