🚨Current Situation in Aleppo and Afrin Amid Ongoing Genocide Attacks

Kurdish-majority regions in Northern Syria, especially Afrin, as well as the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo, are subjected not only to security concerns but also to systematic attacks targeting their national identity and demographic presence.

In the last two weeks, security forces affiliated with the interim Damascus government have launched large-scale arrest and detention campaigns in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, targeting 293 young people—including women—under the pretext of “working or collaborating with theSDF.”
Only 21 of those detained have been released so far; however, as of the preparation of this report, the fate of 272 young people remains unknown.

According to the information Lekolin.org has obtained, the number of civilians detained and abducted since the start of the attacks has exceeded 793.

In Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood alone, 17 people who worked or were connected to the Asayish’s “financial services offices, archives, administrative and military institutions” were tortured to death.

During the clashes, hundreds of Kurdish families were forced to flee from Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh to Afrin. In fact, the Damascus government, in coordination with the ENKS and collaborator Mesud Bettal, deliberately directed the population toward Afrin.However, this migration was not safe; arrests began even at the Afrin entry checkpoints.

On the very first day, 7 young people were detained and taken to unknown locations by the General Security forces affiliated with the interim Damascus government. This constitutes an open violation against civilians and direct targeting of migrants fleeing the war.

The crisis that began with the torching of oil wells in the Tayeb al-Fal village and the İzba area in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has pushed tensions to the breaking point between HTS, which seeks to seize economic resources, and the local tribes.

These developments carry a clear message from the Arab tribes to the Syrian government:
“If we don’t get our share of the oil, you won’t get to taste it either.”

Behind the scenes:
The individual named Abu Ducane is seen as the central figure behind the oil-well arson incident that paved the way for HTS’s intervention. Abu Ducane previously held an emir-level position within the ranks of ISIS.
While the SDF have adopted a policy of sharing oil revenues with the Arab tribes in Deir ez-Zor, HTS is attempting to monopolize all oil income.

According to the latest information, secret cells have been established to carry out assassinations on the orders of Gassan al-Sayyid Ahmed,the Deir ez-Zor Governor affiliated with the HTS.

Escalation of protests:
Today, Arab tribes set fire to a fourth oil well to protest the Syrian government’s seizure of the wells. They accuse the government of misleading the public with claims that the wells would require years of maintenance before they could resume operation. This power struggle over oil is directly shaking the lives of the people and the security of the region.

Asayish and Damascus forces toured and carried out inspections at Qamishlo Airport

-At the latest, within 20 days Qamishlo Airport will resume operations.

-Tomorrow, a delegation from Damascus and the Asayish will go to Rimelan.
