"Pregnant women were told over and over again by the CDC and others that this shot was safe, when in fact, it wasnβt safe at all,β said Independent Medical Alliance Senior Fellow Dr. Kimberly Biss, OB-GYN. βAnd even now, because of court ordered confusion, the CDC website is still recommending the shot for all adults, despite FDA only approving the shot for those over age 65 and high-risk young people.β
Dr. Anthony Fauciβs own diaries show that in late January 2021 he warned CDC Director Walensky and Surgeon General Murthy about the possibility that the second mRNA shot could cause miscarriages in pregnant women. Fauci wrote, βI asked around a bit more and another issue came up that you need to be aware of. Since many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester.β Yet just days later, Fauci told the Journal of the American Medical Association there were βno red flagsβ regarding pregnant women. In April of 2021, Walensky said in a White House briefing that there were βno safety concernsβ for pregnant women. The drop in safety confidence for the COVID shot crosses party lines. KFF found confidence fell 17 points among Democrats and 15 points among Republicans since 2022. Among women ages 18 to 49, it fell from 48% to 37%.

FULL STATEMENT: (WASHINGTON, DC) - Drug-resistant bacteria and fungi now cause an estimated 9.7 million infections and 50,800 deaths a year in the United States, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, entitled Antimicrobial Resistance Threats Report.
βIn the ICU, these are the infections we fear most, because by the time a patient reaches us we may have nothing left that works,β said Dr. Joseph Varon, President and Chief Medical Officer of the Independent Medical Alliance, Americaβs largest coalition of independent physicians, researchers and healthcare professionals.
The report released Tuesday ranks 19 drug-resistant threats, and found that infections common among hospital patients account for more than 42,000 of the deaths and more than $12 billion in costs. U.S. pharmacies filled 255.9 million outpatient antibiotic prescriptions in 2024, or 752 for every 1,000 Americans, according to CDC data. The agency estimates at least 28% of antibiotics prescribed in doctorsβ offices and emergency departments are unnecessary, many of them written for colds, bronchitis and other viral illnesses that antibiotics cannot treat.
βAmericaβs prescription drug fueled healthcare culture is a big part of the problem,β continued Dr. Varon. βEvery antibiotic handed out for a common cold gives resistant bacteria another advantage. We are burning through the drugs that make modern surgery, cancer treatment and intensive care possible.β
One stark example is the reportβs data on Clostridium difficile (C. diff), a dangerous intestinal infection which caused an estimated 412,504 cases in 2023 and more than 11,000 deaths among hospitalized patients. Its leading risk factor is recent antibiotic use. Antibiotics kill the healthy gut bacteria that normally keep C. diff in check, and CDC says patients are 7 to 10 times more likely to get the infection while taking antibiotics and for a month afterward.
βWe need to return to the doctor-patient relationship and individualized care,β continued Dr. Varon. βNot every patient needs a prescription antibiotic. Sometimes good sleep, exercise, and a proper diet are the right prescriptions.β 2/2
