The Syrian president Bashar al-Assad emphasized the importance of support from allies in combating terrorism in Syria during the meeting.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, after meeting with the President of Syria said: "I had a useful, candid, and friendly meeting with the President of Syria, and we discussed the current situation in Syria. It is natural that the conditions are difficult, but the courage and spirit of the President of Syria were commendable. Good understandings were reached during this meeting. Terrorist groups think that an opportunity has arisen and that they can carry out activities, but they will be confronted."

"The situation is difficult, but I am confident that the Syrian government will win as it did in the past," the top diplomat added.
