❗️🇯🇵💰 - Japan spends another $34.5 billion to shore up a failing Yen. The intervention happened at the important psychological level of 160 Yen per Dollar. The size of this intervention is just shy of the $36.8 billion Japan spent in July 2024.

The Central Bank of Japan (BOJ) kept rate unchanged at the relatively low level of 0.75% even as inflation is running hot. Japan has been releasing oil from its strategic reserve to cushion its economy from the Hormuz disruption.

To compound on the Yen troubles, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi is pushing for bigger deficit and lower cost of borrowing to pursue an expensive rearm even as she cuts taxes.
