For me the biggest issue with Forza Horizon series is that it fails to deliver the cultural and architectural heart of locations it supposed to represent. Tokyo is also not Tokyo at all. The whole premise of visiting a certain place is a hoax.
Here are some of my shots from Edinburgh, which is supposed to be shown in FH4, but it's barely there. They missed the scale, they turned the city into a parody of itself... a few landmarks, placed 30 seconds away of each other, like the beach which begins right after Arthur's Seat (and it's actually divided by a half of the city).

The whole city in the game vs the real view from that spot (keeping in mind that half of the city stays behind IRL).

Yeah, I mean, how many times my save files from 2010 or 2013 were still on Steam cloud? Ang GOG is even better with their game upgrades for modern systems.

Someone wrote it, voiced it, and animated! True Crime: Streets of LA
Back in San Andreas times, Rockstar Games were so mad about True Crime game series, that they placed an Easter egg about it...

The guy ported Steam Audio to Lineage II. Sadly, not all sounds are positioned anyway but ones that are placed in 3D will have direction and proper reflectivity now.

POV: you're playing a Sony game. It requires 500~mb of ram just to run their telemetry system. And then Sony wonders why people don't want to have a Playstation Network account.

Back in 2014 AMD and the small but passionate studio Xaviant (The Culling) created Battlemage. The game using Cryengine 3 and one of the first true spatial sound systems (named TrueAudio)
- First: there are simply not so many Battle mage games out there, so magic combat is cool
- Second: even now good spatial audio sounds insanely good and this one is indeed very impressive!
The system was also used in Theif but generally didn't get enough attention. But the studies they made helped to make later systems (Steam Audio included).
Can be a funky one to try on sale, don't expect too much though. Except the audio β it's still awesome.

Apparently, I'm a fool and the "cool audio" in the game comes from audio system + windows + their basic system, not TrueAudio.
That feature was limited to a very narrow Radeon chips with additional DSP (R9 260 - 295x2, + some Kaveri and Carrizo APUs).
The basic audio still has spatial sound, reverberation, audio materials, and more. It's just accelerated in a different way. And it's still one of the best audio implementations in any game.
