🇹🇭 Worsening floods in Sukhothai, Thailand (July 27–28, 2025)
🌊🌧 The flood situation in Thailand’s northern province of Sukhothai is rapidly deteriorating. On the morning of July 27, the Yom River in the city of Sukhothai reached a height of 7.90 meters and continues to rise at a rate of 5 cm per hour. A dam breach near the Kuha Sawan Pagoda caused sudden flooding of residential areas and markets.
In the worst-hit areas, water levels have risen more than 2 metres in some places, forcing residents to use boats or makeshift rafts to transport food and water.
In Si Samrong District, riverbanks have collapsed. Rescue workers and military forces are on the ground, reinforcing riverbanks with sandbags and carrying out evacuations. Relief efforts are ongoing.
