🇵🇭 Kanlaon Volcano Eruption in the Philippines: Alert Level Raised

🌋 On December 9, 2024, at 3:03 PM local time, a powerful explosive eruption occurred at the summit of Kanlaon Volcano. The eruption produced an ash plume that rose 3,000 meters above the crater and drifted west-southwest.

‼️ Additionally, pyroclastic flows were observed descending rapidly down the southeastern slope of the volcano. These hazardous flows consist of hot ash, volcanic debris, and gases, posing a significant threat to nearby areas.

⚠️ Due to the increased activity, the local observatory has raised the alert level for Kanlaon to Level 3, indicating a heightened risk and the potential need for evacuations in surrounding areas.
