βΌοΈ πΏπ¦ The strongest storm, which began on Sunday, April 7th, in South Africa, is expected to continue until Monday evening.
βοΈ π¦ As stated by the Premier of the Western Cape province, the storm is accompanied by powerful downpours and hurricane-force winds reaching speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour (99 miles).
π In videos circulating online, it's noticeable how the wind blows several cars, including a large truck, off a bridge on the main N1 highway.
π₯ Thunderstorms and wind have caused several forest fires, but heavy rains are currently preventing their spread. In some areas of the province, flooding has begun due to the heavy rainfall. "So far, the flooding hasn't been too severe because we're at the end of the dry season, and the precipitation is quickly absorbed by the soil," said Alan Wind, Premier of the Western Cape province, over the phone from Cape Town.
βοΈ As of now, there is no information on fatalities or serious injuries, and damage assessment is ongoing.
