๐ฎ๐น Italy: Half a Meter of Snowfall in Cervinia
โ๏ธ Winter has returned not only to France but also to neighboring Italy. On April 16, heavy snowfall was reported in Cervinia (Valle dโAosta region), located at an altitude of around 2,600 meters. Snow accumulation reached 50โ60 centimeters โ and it kept snowing.
โผ๏ธ A true winter scene in the middle of spring has surprised both tourists and experts. Such weather activity is rare for this time of year, especially in the context of global warming.
๐ These anomalies highlight the need for comprehensive scientific analysis of changing climate patterns and the development of sustainable solutions amid growing weather instability.

๐ฎ๐น Italy | The Alps Covered in Snow Again โ Heavy Snowfall in Livigno Due to Cold Front
On May 5, 2025, winter made a surprise return to the Alps. The town of Livigno, nestled in the Valtellina valley (Lombardy), experienced heavy snowfall, with accumulation reported around 1,900 meters above sea level. The snowstorm was triggered by a cold front that brought dense clouds and blizzard-like conditions.
Such weather contrasts during spring are increasingly drawing the attention of climatologists, who note growing instability in Europe's atmospheric patterns.

๐ฎ๐น Northern Italy hit by natural disasters: landslides, floods, and transport disruptions
๐ง The night of June 30 to July 1 brought serious challenges to northern Italy. Torrential rains triggered flash floods and landslides across mountainous regions, causing significant disruption and damage.
โผ๏ธ One of the hardest-hit areas was the stretch between San Vito di Cadore and Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Veneto region, where a massive debris flow swept across the SS51 di Alemagna highway. According to local authorities, the landslide reached a width of 100 meters, carrying large amounts of mud and rocks down the slope. The road has been completely closed, and emergency crews are working to clear the debris. The situation is currently under control, as confirmed by provincial councilor Massimo Bortoluzzi.
๐จ Meanwhile, in Piedmont, the town of Bardonecchia was hit by flash flooding, which tragically claimed the life of a 70-year-old local shopkeeper. This is the first confirmed fatality linked to the storms. As of the morning of July 1, the A32 motorway and regional railway lines have resumed service, restoring access to previously cut-off areas.
โ๏ธ However, the impact of the storm reached beyond Italyโs borders. The French railway operator SNCF announced a multi-day suspension of service on the ParisโMilan line, due to storm damage in the Maurienne Valley on the French side of the Alps.
โ ๏ธ This sequence of natural events is yet another reminder of how vulnerable mountain regions are to sudden climate extremes, and how a localized weather event can quickly escalate into a wider regional crisis.
