🇮🇸 Katla Volcano (Iceland): Danger level raised, glacial flood disrupts ring road.

⚠️ After a relatively calm year, Icelandic authorities have raised the danger level of Katla volcano to yellow. On July 27, 2024, a strong glacial flood began, increasing the discharge of the Skálm river to over 1000 cubic meters per second, leading to the destruction of part of the ring road and the bridge over the river.

🌋 The possible cause of the flood could be a minor subglacial volcanic eruption, which is believed to potentially precede a new eruption.

‼️ As of today, the flood is slowly subsiding, but it may take several days before normal water levels are restored.

🇮🇸|🌋 Increased Activity in Iceland’s Geyser Region

‼️Since Saturday, heightened activity has been observed across several hot springs in Iceland's Geysir geothermal area. Notably, the Strokkur geyser is now producing more powerful and frequent steam eruptions than usual, drawing the attention of specialists and visitors alike, as such an increase is rare even for this dynamic geothermal region.

The rise in geyser activity may be linked to underground changes in the area, once again highlighting the powerful forces of nature hidden beneath the earth’s surface. Geologists continue to monitor the situation to determine if this is due to temporary shifts or deeper processes within the earth. October 24, 2024

🇮🇸 Volcano Eruption in Iceland: First Images Released

🌋 November 20, 2024, marked a new volcanic eruption in Iceland. Initial aerial images captured from a helicopter reveal a stunning display of lava flow. However, experts note that the lava wall is significantly lower compared to the previous eruption, and the current eruption appears to be less intense.

🔥The fissure releasing the lava extends less far to the north than before. Scientists are closely monitoring the situation to assess potential risks to the environment and local communities.

🇮🇸 Volcanic Activity in Iceland: Lava Threatens the Blue Lagoon‼️

🌋 On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 23:14, volcanic activity resumed on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. This marks the seventh eruption this year. Molten magma erupted from the crater, creating a 3-kilometer-long fissure. Due to the threat to local residents and tourists, authorities evacuated the town of Grindavík and the Blue Lagoon spa complex.

🆘 Workers on site are actively constructing protective barriers to contain the lava and minimize its impact on infrastructure. However, the forces of nature are relentless: on November 21, the lava consumed the parking lot near the famous geothermal resort, and the situation remains tense.

🌍 The ongoing volcanic activity continues to draw attention from local authorities and tourists, serving as a reminder of the instability of natural processes in Iceland.
