🇮🇹 Skier Survives Massive Avalanche on Mont Blanc in Italy

🏔 This Saturday, an incident occurred on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, where an avalanche swept away a skier. The man, a citizen of Italy, was skiing alone, following a group of freeriders in the off-piste Skyway sector. He managed to activate his airbag before being carried away by the avalanche for several hundred meters. During the fall, he crossed a rock wall approximately 50 meters high.

🆘 A group of French skiers, who witnessed the incident, immediately called emergency services. Thanks to their swift actions, the man was evacuated and taken to the hospital with rib and leg injuries.

❄️ Unfortunately, not all such incidents have a happy ending. Over the past few days, seven skiers have died in the off-piste areas of the Northern Alps. According to Météo-France, the unstable snowpack caused by recent snowfall and strong winds at high altitudes made it easier to trigger avalanches.

‼️ Meteorologists and mountain rescue services are urging extreme caution when skiing off-piste.
