💫 On the morning of March 9, 2024, a prolonged meteor was observed over Puerto Rico. The observation lasted for 23 seconds. The Caribbean Astronomical Society explained that this was a "grazing meteor," meaning that instead of entering the atmosphere at a steep angle, it began experiencing friction as it traveled above the atmosphere at an altitude of approximately 70-60 miles (113-97 km) above the Earth's surface.

🇭🇳 Severe Earthquake in the Caribbean Sea Triggers Tsunami Warnings

🌊 On Saturday, February 8, 2025, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.6 struck in the Caribbean Sea, just 157 km off the coast of Honduras, at 17:23 local time (GMT -6). The earthquake had an extremely shallow depth of 10 km, which contributed to the widespread propagation of shock waves. In response, authorities issued tsunami warnings.

‼️ According to @ONAMET_RDO, residents in coastal areas are urged to move to a safe elevation of over 20 meters or at least 2 km inland.

🚨 Media reports also indicate that several oceanographic buoys were destroyed, confirming the scale of the threat. Affected areas include Juan Dolio, Santo Domingo, Salinas, Bani, Punta Cana, Cabrera, Sosua, Samana, Monte Cristi, and Pedernales, as the damaged buoys were unable to withstand the force of the waves.
