💦 According to media reports, as of September 29, at least 36 people have died in North Carolina due to the storm. Search and rescue operations continued throughout the weekend to locate hundreds of individuals who remain stranded or missing.

🆘 "Electricity is out everywhere, cell towers are down, and in some places, there’s even a lack of water," said Margaret Beal, principal of Immaculata School in Hendersonville, which has been flooded and remains closed. "This is a real disaster. People can’t get out of their homes and may be left without food and water."

⚠️ In a statement, Duke Energy reported that most customers are expected to have their electricity restored by the evening of October 4. However, the scale of repairs is so extensive that only a few areas have been given estimated restoration timelines.

"Thousands of line workers are tirelessly working to assess the damage and make repairs in response to the historic destruction caused by Storm Helene," the company stated. "Due to the severity of the damage and ongoing flooding in Western Carolina, we anticipate multi-day recovery efforts."
