How complementary medicines won an important court case in South Africa

Natural and complementary medicine is a highly contested space globally. Even the WHO wants to be involved in decision making, and set up a Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine department.

In South Africa, both the High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal unanimously agreed that the South African Health Products Authority (SAHPRA) has no legal jurisdiction to regulate substances that are not medicines or scheduled substances.

The verdict follows after the Alliance of Natural Health Products South Africa (ANHP), took the Minister of Health and the SAHPRA to court over contested regulations that would regulate all natural health products, defined as complementary medicines and health supplements, as medicines

Paul D. Thacker is an investigative reporter, former investigator for the United States Senate and former Fellow at the Safra Ethics Center, Harvard University.

The Pulse report (July 20) on his Substack article in the The DisInformation Chronicle:

Paul attended "an award ceremony in London this Thursday" (July 14) "as a finalist for the Steve Connor Award for Investigative Science Journalism, presented by the Association of British Science Writers (ABSW)."

His entry was an investigation he wrote "for The BMJ about data integrity issues found in Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trial, and which was based on dozens of internal company documents, photos, audio recordings, and emails."

“A very good story on a sensitive issue that was reported responsibly, it very clearly spells out why the story mattered,” ABSW judges described the investigation.

One method scientists use to judge impact is through a scoring system called “Altmetric” and his investigation has an Altmetric rating of 45,135 — the second highest score ever.

After The BMJ published his investigation, he ran into "a political buzzsaw from Facebook," which labelled the article as 'misinformation' "even though they could find no factual errors."

Facebook’s political response spurred editors at The BMJ to send Mark Zuckerberg an open letter complaining about his “inaccurate, incompetent and irresponsible” fact check.

Thacker explains:

"Current social conventions allow disparagement of drugs and devices, but critique a vaccine … good night, and good luck."

Some media outlets were brave enough to report on Facebook's censorship and control of the mainstream narrative:

TK News by Matt Taibbi reported "The fact-checkers who flagged Paul Thacker's British Medical Journal article about a Pfizer subcontractor for Facebook admitted they police narrative, not fact."

The New Statesman reported "In trying to tackle fake news, Facebook is cracking down on real science. The platform’s fact checkers found no inaccuracies in a recent BMJ investigation – but limited its reach anyway. Should they be playing moral police?"

MedScape reported "BMJ Slams 'Incompetent' Facebook Fact-Checking of Vaccine Article."

Zerohedge reported "World's Most Prestigious Medical Journal Roasts Facebook Over "Inaccurate, Incompetent & Irresponsible" Fact Check"

Unherd reported "BMJ fights back against Facebook fact-checkers. The medical journal was censored for ‘misinformation’ by the tech giant."

We have previously reported on other media outlets like the Western Standard, Daily Express, EuroWeekly, Daily Mail, Washington Standard, Spectator Australia and Wall Street Journal reporting on Covid misinformation, censorship and vaccine damage.

GB News is an example of a mainstream UK TV channel that is also focusing on Covid truth.

Media outlets, journals, journalists and scientists have been trying to navigate censorship and corruption throughout the 'pandemic,' and it is a very simplistic statement to say 'everyone in MSM is either complicit or controlled opposition.'

In all areas of life, including within the media, there are those both in and out the system who are speaking and acting with integrity, facts and truth.

Canadian Military Poised to End COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

🇨🇦💉@COVID19Up: Canadian Forces members discharged from service because they disobeyed an order to get vaccinated against COVID-19 will have the opportunity to re-enroll, according to leaked details of the military’s revised policy.

That policy, expected to be unveiled later this summer, will put an end to the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, which was introduced in October 2021.

Under the updated policy, service members will no longer have to attest to their COVID-19 vaccine status and new recruits will no longer have to be fully vaccinated to enroll in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Other discipline procedures being conducted against unvaccinated service members will be ended, but paperwork connected to those cases will remain on personnel files, according to the draft policy.

Schenectady Schools End COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Student Athletes

🇺🇸💉@COVID19Up: Schenectady city schools in New York ended its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for student athletes last week, effectively clearing the way for unvaccinated kids to participate in sporting events this upcoming school year.

In a 6-0 vote, the district’s Board of Education last Wednesday (July 20) adopted a new policy that “highly recommends” all students be vaccinated against COVID-19 before participating in high-risk sports.

The updated policy, which aligns with recommendations laid out by the CDC and state’s Department of Health, is a stark contrast from the district’s previous policy adopted last year requiring all athletes to be vaccinated before being allowed to compete.

Schenectady was one of a handful of districts locally to require a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for student athletes, sparking pushback from coaches and parents, who argued that the policy was unfair to students and would adversely impact teams.
