In 2007, CasaPound started describing itself not as fascist, but as estremo centro alto (the name of a ZetaZeroAlfa song, which means โ€œextreme, high centreโ€).

"We do not raise the masses for sustainable action without principles". These words of Maurice Barrรจs still echo in the ears of nationalist activists who understand that order is no longer in order but in revolution.

A well-understood nationalism can only be revolutionary because the problems to be faced cannot be resolved within the framework of democratic institutions.

However, faced with a multifaceted, deterritorialized, fluid system, revolution seems very distant in people's minds. However, it is necessary to embody a policy of rupture with the existing order.

Words and Actions: Italian ultras and Neo-Fascism
by Alberto Testa and Gary Armstrong

This paper explores the under-researched milieu of neo-fascist ideology as displayed in the contemporary Italian football stadia. Contributing original material and employing as conceptual frameworks the New Consensus Theory on fascism and the works of Julius Evola and Georges Sorel, this analysis hypothesizes that the neo-fascistโ€™s tenets manifested by the ideologically-oriented โ€˜ultrasโ€™ fan groups, may be understood as both a consequence of, and a resistance against the dominant socio-cultural and political values of contemporary Italy. The research conducted between 2003โ€“2007 sought to evaluate two internationally renowned ultras groups located in the Italian capital of Rome: the Boys of AS Roma and the Irriducibili of SS Lazio who enact their performances on their respective โ€˜curveโ€™ [football terraces] of the cityโ€™s Olympic stadium.

Using a conceptual frameworks the sociology of Max Weber (Weber, 1958) and the New Consensus theory on Fascism (Griffin, 1998), the theoretical boundaries of this inquiry address fascismโ€™s role as an agenda of social change combined with an examination of โ€˜Third Wayโ€™ nationalism propounded by Mussolini in the 1930s. The Irriducibiliโ€™s and Boysโ€™ creeds can be identified as โ€˜resistance ideologiesโ€™ containing an intrinsic revolutionary value. Several times the ultras of this research identified themselves with โ€˜non omologazioneโ€™ (anti-conformity) and express via this concept their loathing for political and social โ€˜conformismโ€™ within and outside the football stadium. Instead they believe they are an avant-garde pre-revolutionary force.

โ€œWhen we speak about issues such as the Palestine Intifada and Saddam Husseinโ€™s Iraq they do not like it; they do not like political topics at the stadium because they could create a consensus; this scares politicians who cannot control votes. This is the reason for the strong police repression...โ€

Victory!

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป We tricked them again! The last reading tour in 2024 was also a complete success. Augsburg banned me from entering the city. The state of Bayern wanted to blow up my reading in every other city too.

๐ŸšŒThat's why I held my lecture in a bus, without further ado! The police couldn't stop us. #Remigration is unstoppable - just like us!

The prime ministerโ€™s career has resembled those of old-fashioned politicians. Though she emphasizes her willingness as a young woman to accept simple jobs to make a buck, like babysitting, she quickly found the tenure track of a professional lawmaker. Ms. Meloni went from being a mascot for fellow party members to having a seat in Parliament, becoming vice president of the Chamber of Deputies and then minister in the final Silvio Berlusconi government. As a 31-year-old minister of youth affairs, she was the youngest minister in Italyโ€™s history.

In this formative period, she seemed closer to what is known as destra sociale, the โ€œsocial right.โ€ This concept identifies a blending of nationalism with corporatism, in the sense of a mixed economy managed by the government (though it claims to operate on behalf of โ€œintermediate bodies,โ€ like trade unions). As such, Ms. Meloni did not follow Gianfranco Fini โ€“ her mentor and the secretary of the National Alliance, the party that evolved out of the post-fascist Italian Social Movement โ€“ who attempted to rebrand himself as a liberal centrist.

Instead, she remained loyal to Mr. Berlusconi, even as his party and Mr. Finiโ€™s merged โ€“ until, with the caretaker government of Mario Monti, she broke off and established a new social-right party. The Brothers of Italy (Fratelli dโ€™Italia, or FdI) was a bold bet, initially seeming doomed to single-digit vote shares. Yet, from the beginning, it was an oddity in Italian politics: the furthest-right party was also the only one led by a woman.

The Destra Sociale promotes a social economy providing a range of services to citizens including the most disadvantaged groups. It promotes a strong defence of traditional values and national identity; among its political priorities are found demands for efficient regulation of immigration, the protection of environmental heritage, the promotion of Italian history, art, architecture and food. The Destra Sociale is an important political component of the FdI.
