Eighteen years ago today, Russian forces launched an unprovoked invasion of Georgia, igniting the August War—a brutal conflict that lasted several days but left a lasting scar.

Hundreds of Georgian soldiers and civilians paid the ultimate price, and our lands—particularly the Tskhinvali region—fell under temporary Russian occupation.

We will never forget the aggression, the pain, or the sacrifice. Our memory is strong, our resolve unshaken. Justice will be served—sooner or later.

Glory to our fallen heroes. Their courage lives on in us.

Today, we remember Giorgi Antsukhelidze, a National Hero of Georgia and a true knight who fought against Russian aggression in 2008.

During the 2008 war, Giorgi was captured by Russian forces and subjected to brutal torture. His captors ordered him to step on the Georgian national flag and insult the President of Georgia. He refused.

He chose to lose his life rather than surrender his dignity. He refused to comply with the enemy’s demands and was tortured and killed by Russian forces and separatists.

Glory to his name. The enemy will be held accountable.
